Coterie Diapers Review: The Upgrade You Didn’t Know You Needed

The average baby goes through over 2,000 diapers in just the first year of life, a pretty staggering number no matter how you look at it. I think most parents would agree that changing diapers is practically a full-time job. But to me, this number also highlights the sheer number of times we expose our babies’ sensitive skin to the many materials - and often harmful chemicals - found in most diapers and wipes. I’ll be honest, this freaked me out. So I set out to find a diaper that I felt good about putting on my kids 24/7. After trying many options (yes, it’s a very saturated market), I found Coterie to be the cleanest and best performing diaper out there.

It's All In The Details

Founder Frank Yu was inspired to create Coterie's proprietary diaper after he discovered a "brand of Japanese diapers that were so soft and luxurious he mistook them for cashmere." In addition to being incredibly soft (they’re made from clothing-grade materials and are fragrance-free), I’m happy to report that Coterie’s diapers really are all about the details. Combining an extra-wide back panel and absorbent core help prevent accidents with a powerful transfer layer that wicks away moisture (aka helps prevent diaper rash), they get the job done and then some.

Sleep Tight, Little One

Nighttime leaks are one of the biggest issues we face - my poor two year old often wakes up soaking wet, despite our best efforts sizing up, testing out different overnight diaper brands and even experimenting with special inserts designed for absorbency. You can imagine my excitement when I read that Coterie diapers have a proprietary core that holds up to 70% more than competing brands, with an extra-wide back panel to limit leaks. I’m happy to report that they live up to the hype. We’re one week in wearing exclusively Coterie during naps and at nighttime, and so far we’ve had zero leaks!

Doing The Hard Work For You

You’ll get a text prompting you to size up, delay, cancel or ship immediately so you never have to worry about remembering to make changes. The icing on the cake? You get 10% off for using the auto-renew program.

Let’s be honest, running out of diapers is the absolute worst (I mean literally, what do you do?), but no parent has time for a last minute Target run to stock up. When shopping for baby products, I am all about whatever is going to make my life easy. One thing I love about Coterie is the site’s auto-renew system which allows for shipments every 3, 4 or 5 weeks and gives you the option to add wipes. When each order is being prepared, you’ll get a text prompting you to size up, delay, cancel or ship immediately so you never have to worry about remembering to make changes. The icing on the cake? In addition to saving time and headache, you get 10% off for using the auto-renew program. Sounds like a win-win to me.

Sustainability Meets Performance

In addition to superior performance, the company is hyper-focused on environmental impact and sustainability (when you’re using 6+ disposable diapers per day, you really start to think about these things). The brand’s diapers are 25% plant-based while baby wipes are 100% plant-based. Far from achieving eco perfection - no diaper is - I personally find comfort in supporting a brand that thinks about the long-term impact that their products have on our planet, including an in-the-works program aimed at making diaper recycling more realistic for the general public.

When it comes to diapers, the name of the game is more comfort, fewer blowouts. Coterie easily gets that job done.
