TikTok Baby Products That Actually Deliver (and the Ones That Don’t)

Our team is dedicated to finding and telling you more about the web’s best products. If you purchase through our links, we may receive a commission. Our editorial team is independent and only endorses products we believe in.

If you’ve ever found yourself doomscrolling TikTok at 3 a.m. or nap-trapped in the middle of the afternoon (join the club), you know how ruthless that algorithm is. And as a first-time mom — of twins, no less — I’ve been there, and fallen for it more times than I’d like to admit. Drowning in (mis)information and endless “expert” opinions, it quickly started to feel impossible to know what we actually needed. So, I did what any sleep-deprived parent with Wi-Fi would do: I ordered everything.

And for a while, I was pretty sure I was singlehandedly keeping Amazon in business, much to my husband’s dismay. A year (and way too many impulse buys) later, I’ve got the receipts — literally. After testing the Internet's most-hyped baby gear, I’ve learned firsthand what’s worth it, what’s overhyped, and what you can probably skip.

Frida Baby Windi Gas Passer

I wanted this one to work, truly. The Frida Baby Windi Gas Passer  is designed to relieve gassy babies, and the rave reviews had me hopeful. But in our house, it didn’t live up to the promise. It felt awkward to use, didn’t seem especially effective, and quickly became one of those “great in theory” products that never left the drawer again.

Some parents swear by it, but I just wasn’t one of them. That said, it’s inexpensive enough that it might still be worth trying once, especially if you’re desperate for anything that might bring your baby some relief.

Cute, But Not a Must

Baby Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit Wearable Blanket

I was intrigued by all the TikToks of babies bundled up in these sleep suits like tiny, cozy marshmallows. And I’ll be honest — when I saw moms swearing it helped their babies sleep 12-hour stretches, I was tempted to hit “add to cart.” It promised to make the crib-to-sleep transition smoother, but for us, it just felt like another unnecessary step in an already complicated process.

I worried it would make the next transition (out of the suit) even harder, so I skipped it. In hindsight, I don’t think we missed much, save for some cute photos. While plenty of parents swear by it, I found sticking to a simple sleep sack less stressful since it became one less thing we'd need to wean off later down the line.

More Stylish Than Functional

Bloomingdale's

Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair

With its minimalist wood frame and sleek Scandinavian design, the Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair looks like it was plucked straight from a glossy design catalog. But despite its chic appeal, I found it surprisingly high-maintenance. Cleaning it after every meal was a chore, the seat itself didn’t seem all that comfortable, and adjusting the height or straps took more time (and patience) than I had most nights. Oh, and did I mention it's a small fortune?

Since I already spent the money, I do plan to bring ours back into rotation as my girls get older. It can be adjusted into a sturdy chair or step stool, making it one of those rare baby purchases that actually earns a second life down the road.

Artipoppe

Zeitgeist Baby Carrier

With two little ones, babywearing always felt too chaotic and logistically complicated — no matter how nice the carrier looked. And the Artipoppe ones do look good. With their buttery-soft fabrics, chic prints, and impeccable craftsmanship, they're the kind of baby gear that doubles as a fashion accessory.

But after a few long walks and grocery runs, I realized baby carriers caused more hassle than convenience. Despite trying several of them, the structure and weight distribution didn’t work for my back, and — maybe most surprising — they’re deceptively tricky to put on. The Artipoppe ones in particular are a major investment, at well over $300 (with some limited-edition styles nearing $700).. In the end, I’m glad I didn’t splurge given how complicated babywearing turned out to be for me personally. That said, if you’re still curious, consider buying one secondhand for a fraction of the price.

Influencer Ads That Actually Delivered

Confession: I got served so many TikTok ads for Little Spoon that it started to feel like they were reading my mind. So when the chance came to try it, I jumped — partly out of curiosity, partly out of exhaustion. We had just started solids, and one of my daughters was already showing signs of picky eating. That alone felt overwhelming, but when you factor in work, travel, and trying to juggle everything else, the last thing I wanted was to spend hours cooking three meals a day from scratch. I just wanted healthy options without the effort.

And honestly? It delivered. The meals looked and tasted fresh, with ingredients I actually recognized. And yes, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t finish off a few leftover bites myself. My twins loved the variety — veggie-packed blends, mini pastas, and fun finger foods like mini grass-fed meatballs — all a welcome break from the overly smooth, same-old purée consistency. I also love that it constantly exposes them to new tastes and textures, which feels like a small but meaningful win during the picky-eater phase.

Still, for me, the real win was convenience. Everything came pre-portioned, clearly labeled, and could be heated directly in the packaging — a lifesaver when you’re bouncing between meetings and meltdowns.

Cute, But Unnecessary

Amazon

BEABA Babycook Neo Baby Food Maker

$279.99

The Beaba Babycook Neo looks sleek and efficient — like it was made for the kind of “perfect” mom who batch-preps adorable little purées on Sundays while her baby naps peacefully. But for better or worse, I’ve accepted that I’ll never be that mom. Despite its clever design and all the TikTok meal-prep inspo out there, the truth is, I was exhausted and running on fumes. The last thing I needed was another appliance to wash, store, and feel guilty about not using.

In theory, it steams and blends everything in one go — and yes, it’s adorable (just look at this gorgeous eaucalputus hue!). In reality, it just added more steps: more chopping, more cleaning, more parts to scrub. Most days, I reached for a plain old pot, my blender, or even a basic fork.

The Bottom Line

TikTok can make every baby product look like a must-have, but the reality is far less glamorous. Some viral finds genuinely made life easier; others looked great on camera and fell flat in real life. If I’ve learned anything, it’s that the best baby gear isn’t always the trendiest or the most expensive — and despite our best hopes, nothing is a miracle worker.

So before you panic and hit “add to cart” at 2 a.m., take a breath. Borrow, test, and take every glowing TikTok review (including mine) with a grain of salt. Nothing makes early parenthood effortless — but a few things really can make it easier.
