I still remember chatting with a mom friend just a few weeks before I introduced my baby to solids. “Ugh, I really hate that phase,” she groaned, referring to the inevitable mess and gagging. And while those parts were definitely no picnic, what really surprised me was how much harder it was to find great on-the-go snacks. That turned out to be the real challenge.
I was recently introduced to Happy Baby Creamies, little freeze-dried fruit and veggie snacks. But how did they stack up in the baby taste test? Read on to find out.

One Big Happy Family
Happy Family, the parent brand of Happy Baby, started back in 2003. Over the past 20+ years, they’ve led the charge on making organic, better-for-you options more accessible for families with littles. They offer a variety of snacks and meal options for all ages. I’ve tried a bunch of them, but trying the Creamies was a more recent pickup for us.
At just a little over $4 for a pouch, I was mostly impressed by the pricing. It’s not a huge serving, but it’s big enough that I feel like I got a good value for my money, especially when considering how it stacks up to other organic baby snacks. The size also makes them really easy to stash in your car or the diaper bag.

The Baby Taste Test
From an ingredient standpoint, these little snacks are freeze-dried fruit and veggies, mixed with coconut cream. They’re both dairy and gluten-free and are designed to melt in a baby's mouth. The shape and texture are designed for babies to learn how to grab them and self-feed, making them a great option for a crawling baby new to eating. The final huge win? No added sweeteners.
So… how did my baby like them? While he’s not necessarily a picky eater, he will let us know if he doesn’t care for something… and these passed his test! He seemed to prefer the Strawberry flavor over the Apple, but that checked out with his food preferences in general. He downed these quite quickly – to the point his big brother wanted in on the action. I noticed on the Amazon reviews that our family’s experience tracks with others – several enthusiasts noted that their little and big kids love these. One reviewer even mentioned they make a great snack for the elderly, too!

We very much did baby-led weaning (BLW) with our children. While it was pretty messy at times, it was so worth it. Our kids now are able to feed themselves and have developed really strong motor control. Snacks like this, in my opinion, are really great for motor control and independence. Imagine how proud your kiddo will be when they can feed themselves! The Creamies provide an easy, low-mess start for any parent looking to do BLW.
Would I Buy Them Again?
Finding a snack that is even remotely good for a new eater can be a challenge. Thankfully, Happy Family gets that and has solved that pain point with their Creamies. Next time you need a quick snack on the go for baby, reach for some creamies! Your baby (and wallet!) will thank you.
