Over the last few weeks, I’ve noticed a conspicuous gap in the marketplace: while SPFs have dominated recent skincare launches, few brands have linked the wave of heat protectant products that launched this winter to the start of summer. After all, if our skin needs UV protection, doesn’t our hair? As New York roasted under the sun this week, this question took on a new urgency.
I checked in with Liz Criscione of Spoke and Weal, one of New York’s best hairdressers (and the only person I let touch my hair), for her take on summer hair protection. She agreed that heat protectants are an important category to invest in before spending time poolside (Sisley Paris Hair Rituel The Cream 230 ($130) is her fave). But according to Liz, it’s not just sun exposure that we need to prep our hair for as summer approaches: chlorine, salt water, and high humidity can all also wreak havoc on our hair and scalp. Liz recommended Bumble & bumble’s Seaweed Nourishing Air Dry Cream ($31) as a hydrating leave-in to apply at the beach or pool. And Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray ($40) is her go-to for humidity defense and long-lasting hold, especially important for those of us with bangs.
As SPF enters seemingly every category of beauty and skincare, I’m curious to see how haircare brands respond to the widespread desire for sun and heat protection.

First Up: Kinn & Prince Serve Up Summer Collab
Jewelry brand Kinn and tennis icons Prince have collaborated on a special three part Kinn x Prince collection. The tennis-inspired jewelry launch will have three drops, all leading up to Wimbledon. Drawing parallels between the precision of tennis and the craftsmanship of fine jewelry, the collection explores the high standards of quality shared between the two brands.

gorjana released their new Summer I Collection. The new drop includes mixed metals, beach-inspired accents, and chic statement pieces. The beachy collection’s laid-back vibe reflects the brand’s Californian approach to layered essentials. Notably, the launch includes anklets, which I’ve been seeing forecasted everywhere as a major trend for summer 2026.
La Bonne Brosse introduced the Lagoon Blue Hair Brush Collection, a luminous aqua shade available in the full suite of their bestselling brushes and accessories. This new colorway fits right in with the trendy “mermaid-core” blue and teal hues that have been popping up all over nail and makeup trend forecasting for this summer.

Along with the new colorway, La Bonne Brosse’s sister brand Cair launched its new L’Eau De Soin Freshening & Volumizing Hair Mist, created to refresh roots, restore volume, and bring back movement between washes – all especially important after a day in the sun. The lightweight formula is made with 95% naturally derived ingredients.
Crown Affair introduced The Radiance Oil, a new skincare-inspired finishing oil. While most hair oils focus on shine alone, The Radiance Oil is formulated to hydrate, control frizz, and protect from heat. Part treatment, part styler, it was designed to perform in any climate, from arid desert air to high humidity. I’ve been using it on both dry and damp hair and love its silky texture.

- VIOLETTE_FR released Plume Eyeshadow, a feather matte and shimmer shadow that delivers a soft veil of diffused color. The sheer cream-to-powder formula is available in eight shades.
