Between Mother’s Day and the start of wedding season, it feels like florals are everywhere right now. Met Gala attendees looking for a safe bet on Monday night turned to floral motifs, as they have for the past few seasons (regardless of the night’s official dress code). Fragrances are trending away from last year’s gourmands toward fresher, more botanical scents. And floral-inspired lace and embroidery have been popping up on all the summer 2026 fashion trend forecasts.
But there’s more to this trend than generic flower power. We consulted Justin Lievano, Floral Design Manager of UrbanStems, to discover the specific blooms that are driving this spring’s embrace of classic floral motifs. “The two biggest trends I’ve seen this year are specialty roses and the color lavender,” Justin said. “Earlier this year, we were able to introduce a brand new species of rose called Peonikiss to the market, which is a gorgeous variety of frilled lavender roses. We continue to sell out of this bouquet every week! Lavender (the color, not the stem) has also been a smash this year. Many shoppers are opting for softer, lavender-toned bouquets rather than the pinks they typically choose.”
For seasonal spring arrangements, Justin loves two fragrance-rich types of flowers: “If you can get it, I am obsessed with lilacs. It’s a delicate stem that can be hard to come by, but it always makes a big impact… I’m also a big fan of hyacinth! They’re a sturdy little bulb flower, and, like lilacs, they have an intoxicating fragrance.”
It’ll be interesting to see if these trendy roses and lavender-hued flowers transcend bouquets and pop up in fragrances and textiles this summer – I’ve already noticed an uptick in woody rose fragrances. & a final Mother’s Day PSA: If you’re looking to buy a last minute gift, UrbanStems is accepting orders until 5:30 PM EST Friday for the full collection, & select arrangements are available to order until 9:00 PM Friday for guaranteed Saturday delivery.

First Up: A Design Icon, Updated

Rocco released a limited-edition fridge inspired by the iconic USM Haller System. Like the Haller system, the Beige Super Smart Fridge is designed for long-term use – built from commercial-grade steel with a 10-year warranty and a timeless aesthetic. I love this reinterpretation of the classic USM beige-and-chrome combo.
Trending: Plum Power

Le Prunier released Plum Spritz, a dual-phase barrier mist formulated with Plum Beauty Juice, whose antioxidant and prebiotic benefits help shield against oxidative stress and support overall skin health. The formula is paired with the brand’s signature Plum Beauty Oil, now transformed into a lightweight lipid layer that absorbs fast to hydrate, lock in moisture, and help shield against environmental stressors.
They’re not the only ones embracing plum’s natural skincare benefits: goop Beauty launched their new 20% Vitamin C + Advanced Brightening Serum, a reformulation of the brand’s existing Vitamin C serum. This new formula is boosted with skin-soothing ectoin that works alongside the ferulic acid to improve skin tone and texture. It also features Kakadu plum extract, one of the highest naturally occurring sources of vitamin C that’s also rich in flavonoids and phenolic acid, helping to stimulate collagen production and reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation. The new serum comes bottled in two parts: a serum activator and a pure 20% L-ascorbic acid powder.
Trending: Lightweight SPFs

ILIA launched their new Sun Serum Mineral Foundation SPF 50. The lightweight, skincare-infused SPF foundation features a unique water-burst texture designed to make it effective as both hydrating complexion coverage and sun protection. If you’re wondering how this new SPF compares to their Super Serum Skin Tint (which I personally use every day!), ILIA’s annual Friends & Family Sale runs from May 15-28.
Good Weather Skin released the All-Over Sun Milk, a routine-simplifying SPF designed for face and body. The mineral SPF 50 is powered by 20% non-nano zinc oxide, offering broad-spectrum protection with 40 minutes of water resistance. The lightweight, milky texture SPF was initially developed as a clean, ultra-light SPF 50 for the face, but the formula evolved after testing revealed it's just as ideal for the body. I’m very intrigued by any SPF that eliminates the need for multiple products!
Before You Go…

- Elusive fragrance makers Ffern debuted their Permanent Collection with Beltane. This fragrance is the first from the fragrance house available to the public, beyond its waitlist-based ledger system. Created by Ffern’s in-house Nose, Elodie Durande, Beltane opens with galbanum and grapefruit, followed by bitter orange tree, pink peppercorn, vetiver and ginger.
- Pamela Anderson's mindful beauty brand Sonsie launched The Garden Within, a guided journal created in partnership with No Particular Order. Built around Pamela Anderson’s “Rules of the Garden,” the journal encourages a more thoughtful approach to daily life through seasonal prompts, affirmations, and nature-inspired exercises.
- Blue Bottle launched Craft Hōjicha, a limited-release roasted green tea powder sourced from Rishouen Teahouse in Uji, Japan, the same fifth-generation producer behind their Craft Matcha. Hōjicha delivers a distinctly different experience from matcha, with lower caffeine and a high-heat roasting process that brings out warm notes of toasted nuts and caramel, without the bitterness.
- Salt & Straw’s May Flowers Series is back! The release of the five aromatic, floral-inspired flavors is timed to be a great Mother’s Day treat. Standout flavors include: Jasmine Milk Tea Almond Stracciatella, Strawberry Tres Leches, Rhubarb Crumble With Toasted Anise, and the new Saffron Milk with Wildflower Honey.
