It’s officially November, which in the world of product launches means one thing: the countdown to Black Friday/Cyber Monday has officially begun. Usually I don’t really think about holiday gifting until after my tryptophan haze has cleared and BFCM promos are already crowding my inbox. My ensuing sale shopping craze then leads me to panic-buy a bunch of things that neither I nor my friends/family need, intoxicated by the promise of a “good deal” (2024’s haul included an immersion blender I used once and winter hiking boots that were completely unnecessary for anyone I knew in my then-home of SoCal).
This year, I’m determined to be more strategic. Some people are born shoppers, but I need bumper guards to keep me on the straight and narrow. So along with my usual start-of-the-month journaling and intention-setting, I’ve created my inaugural Holiday Shopping Bumper Guard System: First I compiled a list of gift categories that I think will suit each person on my holiday shopping list. Then I curated groups of links to trusted brands in each gift category – a sort of personalized digital gifting suite. Hypothetically, once the Big Weekend comes around and temptations abound, I’ll have a set list of what I need to buy plus a list of trusted brands to shop from. Will my Bumper Guard system succeed, or was it a fruitless exercise in procrastination? I’ll report back with the results in December.
While we limber up our shopping muscles for BFCM, here are some great new products that launched this week:

First Up: A Scandi Haircare Must-Have

This week Scandinavian haircare powerhouse Maria Nila celebrated the American launch of Gloss Coat, an all-in-one heat-activated smoothing treatment developed to deliver sleek, ultra-glossy, frizz-free hair for up to 4 days. Gloss Coat has been making the rounds on EU beauty sites since its release across the pond. I was lucky to experience a demonstration of the product with celebrity hair stylist Ricky Mota last month and Ricky exclusively used the Gloss Coat to give me the best blow out I’ve had this year. My hair was smooth and shiny for days afterward – a dinner date noticed something was different two days later.

Chasing Paper launched an all-new collection in collaboration with Liz Lidgett Gallery and Design. The collection was designed to be reminiscent of a group show at an art gallery, where each offering can stand alone or be styled together for a layered design look. The collection includes 14 wallpaper prints and seven art prints curated from nine artists: Aly Ytterberg, Anee Shah, Bekah Worley, Kevin Brent Morris, Kristen Abbott, Michele Aschenbrenner, Racheal Jackson, Paige Barnes Dorsey, and Liz Lidgett. The bright floral designs are a particular highlight.

The Bouqs Company and the LEGO Group have teamed up this holiday season to create a limited-edition collaboration of two giftable sets, each featuring one LEGO Botanicals bouquet set to build alongside a matching floral arrangement, crafted by Bouqs’ in-house team to mirror the unique designs of the LEGO Group’s viral botanicals collection. With miniatures and flower arranging both trending on TikTok, this feels like perfect timing.

Ice cream brand Salt & Straw has released the Thanksgiving Series, a limited edition collection of ice creams made to take customers through a five-course Thanksgiving feast. The series is available in scoop shops across the country and via nationwide shipping from 11/1 through 11/27. The wild mix of flavors includes Parker House Rolls w/ Salted Buttercream, Turkey Stuffing and Cranberry Sauce, Maple Koginut Squash with Pomegranate, Pumpkin Pie Tiramisu, and Cranberry Orange Sorbet (v). I love Salt & Straw’s adventurous monthly flavors and this year’s Thanksgiving menu is no exception.

Matchaful collaborated with Grammy-nommed band The Marías on a new Coquito Matcha available at Matchaful’s cafés through the end of the year. Apparently the band are longtime Matchaful fans and reached out to the brand to create their dream holiday beverage inspired by María’s Puerto Rican heritage. The Coquito Matcha is made with Matchaful’s premium Kiwami matcha, cinnamon, vanilla powder and maple syrup, blended with house made almond milk and topped with coconut whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon. A percentage of proceeds will go towards protecting Puerto Rico’s natural habitat. Coquito is my all time favorite seasonal drink and I cannot wait to try!
