TomboyX delivers on the (overused) term “inclusive”, which has been thrown around so much that it’s almost meaningless. A thoroughly modern brand, TomboyX began with a desire to design underwear that any body could feel comfortable in, regardless of where they fell on the size or gender spectrum. The brand also offers a mastectomy bra specifically designed for those who are recovering from a unilateral mastectomy. The thoughtfulness and attention to detail embodied in these specialized products extend to the entire line of products that are functional, comfortable, and encourage love for all bodies. UNDERWEAR
It felt appropriate to begin with underwear since that’s where it all started for TomboyX. The fit-tested collection includes plenty of gender-neutral options and styles ranging from 9-inch boxer briefs to 4.5-inch trunks, plus hipster, boy short, and thong styles. My personal favorite is the bikini cut in soft-as-silk TENCEL fabric.
TENCEL is my go-to material for underwear because it’s so lightweight and comfortable, and sustainably sourced from renewable beechwood trees. The fabric is thin but not flimsy, so you won’t feel it start to ride up or creep into wedgie territory. The waistband never digs into my skin (or leaves marks) and there is absolutely no ‘breaking in’ period: they fit perfectly from the first wash.

My second-favorite piece from the underwear collection is the soft Lounge Bralette, also in my beloved TENCEL. It’s available in sizes XS – 4X and six print options. I opted for basic black and it’s easily my favorite WFH top (shirt optional). It offers light support, so I wouldn’t necessarily exercise in it, but the super-stretchy fabric has a keyhole cutout to provide structure and separation for an ultra-comfy fit.

SWIM
If swimsuit shopping typically fills you with dread, you’ll be happy to see that TomboyX has completely overhauled what swimwear can be. There’s nothing wrong with a two-piece triangle bikini but sometimes you wish there were more options (and possibly more coverage). Here’s where TomboyX comes in: they offer swim tanks, sleeveless unisuits, rashguards, and more.
This short-sleeve unisuit is surf, swim, and splash ready. Though it looks like a spring suit, it’s thinner and more flexible than a standard neoprene wetsuit. The jellyfish print side panels are a discreet touch for the solid black colorway, but you can go bolder with the Neon Narwhal print with splashes of turquoise and chartreuse. While the front is fully-lined for increased support and coverage, you can wear the swim sport top ($59) or the racerback zip top ($64) with it for a little extra support.

Why is this the first time I’ve ever seen comfortable swim shorts? I wore my fair share of board shorts during my teenage surfing phase (they were an unforgiving, non-stretchy material), but these bottoms are an entirely different species. If you’ve ever wished you could transform your bikini bottom into breathable, moisture-wicking shorts—these are the fulfillment of that wish. Constructed from polyester and spandex, they won’t slip down or chafe your skin when wet.

ACTIVEWEAR + LOUNGEWEAR
Named the “backpack bra” because it has a legitimate pocket built into the back panel, not a teeny tiny one, this sports bra can fit your entire phone for a hands-free, bag-free workout. The racerback design has medium-level support, and I found it to be perfect for my favorite dance cardio routine (shoutout to Sculpt Society). Lately, I’ve been preferring to sweat in just a sports bra and bike shorts, so the longline design is great when I want a little more coverage.

When it comes to TomboyX’s loungewear, I’m still singing the praises of TENCEL (which feels like a baby unicorn's fur) because I have been living in this henley/jogger set. While I’m loving the matchy-matchy “groutfit” look at home, I’ve absolutely left the house with the Henley tucked into jeans on days where Real Clothes Mode isn’t happening.

Even if you’re not typically a fan of drop crotch silhouettes, the draping on these joggers is extremely flattering, and I love how they appear to have a slim profile even though the fit feels like your coziest, baggiest sweats.
