While I know that sunscreen is the most important part of a skincare routine, I’ve struggled for years to find one that’s earned daily habit status. So many sunscreens pill under makeup, sting upon application, trigger breakouts, or leave a chalky cast. As you can tell, I have tried many.
When I heard that OSEA was launching a Mineral SPF 50 Sunscreen, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. I’ve been a fan of the brand for years (I stay stocked on the Undaria Algae Body Oil, Undaria Algae Body Butter, and Dream Night Serum) and trust its ocean-powered formulas implicitly.
Each, including the new Marine Screen Mineral SPF 50 Sunscreen, is made with ingredients rich in vitamins and minerals that nourish and strengthen skin from the inside out. After years of looking for the daily sunscreen, I've found it.

Genuinely Designed for Daily Wear
Ask any dermatologist for the secret to youthful-looking skin (we have, many times, at TQE), and you’ll get the same answer: SPF, SPF, SPF. And still, for the reasons above, I’ve struggled to regularly integrate it into my daily routine.
Marine Screen was formulated for how you actually live: I have worn it on walks, I have worn it under a 5-minute makeup look while running errands, and I have worn it under full glam for happy hour. In every test, it felt comfortable, lightweight, hydrating, and – importantly – never greasy.
Bonus points: it also goes beyond traditional sun protection. Thanks to a blend of non-nano zinc oxide, Undaria seaweed, and hyaluronic acid (more on those below), OSEA's new sunscreen nourishes and hydrates while it shields. The formula melts into my skin instead of sitting on top, leaving a natural-looking finish that plays well with the rest of my routine.

The Ingredients Inside
Marine Screen is made with non-nano zinc oxide at just under 20 percent, meaning it's a mineral SPF that deflects UVA and UVB rays rather than absorbing them the way chemical filters do.
It also contains OSEA’s hero ingredient, Undaria seaweed, which is threaded through the brand’s entire product assortment. It's rich in amino acids and antioxidants, and in this formula it's what makes your skin feel nourished. There's also hyaluronic acid for hydration, which keeps it from doing that drying-down thing that a lot of mineral formulas do by mid-afternoon.
Lastly, it uses an olive-derived silicone alternative which is what helps it actually melt into your skin instead of sitting on top of it. It's also fragrance-free, safe for sensitive skin, vegan, and cruelty free.

The Bottom Line
Marine Screen is $42 for 1.69 oz, available on oseamalibu.com starting May 5 and at Ulta starting May 17. I’d recommend grabbing two: one for your vanity, and one for your bag to reapply when you’re on the go. Applying – and reapplying – sunscreen is an important step to help prevent visible signs of aging from sun exposure. Marine Screen makes the reapply easy: it's so lightweight and moisturizing that it layers over makeup or bare skin without ever feeling cakey.
If you're already a lover of OSEA products, you likely need no convincing, but just in case: this sunscreen offers the benefits, protection, and hydration that you’ve come to expect from an OSEA product. And if you’ve been on your SPF journey, looking for the right mineral sunscreen that’s lightweight, nourishing, and leaves a natural-looking finish, I’m pleased to report: it’s right here.
