At the beginning of 2024, my husband and I purchased our first home in LA. At the beginning of 2025, we waited nervously, keeping a close eye on the news as we wondered if our new home would be among the many to burn to the ground in the devastating fires that broke out across the city. Fortunately, we were lucky– our home was spared. But in the aftermath of the fires, the air quality was unsafe, and we suddenly realized that breathing clean, fresh air is a luxury we’d taken for granted.
We knew we needed to equip our house with air purifiers, so I took to the internet to find out which model would be the best fit for our roughly 900 square-foot space. That’s when I discovered the Mila Air 3 air purifier, and I’ve been obsessing over it ever since. A powerful, quiet, and compact air purifier that can clean my entire house in 30 minutes? Yes, please.

First Impressions
I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t the design of the Mila Air 3 that initially grabbed my attention. The truth is, it’s pretty. The black and white exterior, wooden legs, and soft, modern silhouette are totally on trend, which is not always the case for functional household items like air purifiers. It’s designed to clean 1,000 square feet, which means it’s perfect for smaller homes, or you can buy multiple Mila Air 3 units for larger spaces. It’s got a small footprint and it’s relatively lightweight, so you can use it in tight spaces and move it around with ease.
The second thing I noticed about the Mila Air 3 is that you can choose from seven different filters, depending on your household’s specific needs. While traditional air purifier filters are designed to do an okay job at a lot of things, Mila’s filters each perform one particular function or combination of functions better than the rest. Options include a basic filter for everyday clean air, one to help combat allergies, one for parents of small children, and the list goes on and on. If you’re not sure which filter to choose, the website even has a guide to help you narrow down the options to find the best fit. Better still, you can change your filter as your needs change, because life is fluid and not even air quality has a one-size-fits-all approach.
Under the Hood
While the Mila Air 3 is design forward and customizable, it’s all of the elements you can’t see that truly make it stand out from the rest of the air purifiers I’ve encountered. It has a dual-flow filtration system that circulates fresh air every 30 minutes, and it automatically adjusts the fan speed based on the size of the room.
It’s also astoundingly quiet— honestly, it’s easy to forget it’s even running at all. But most importantly, it’s powerful. The Mila Air 3 is a workhorse, and it’s rated to be able to withstand the same amount of revolutions as running a car for 6.2 million miles. The machine can deliver 5 air changes per hour in small rooms and 2 air changes per hour in large rooms— that’s seriously impressive.
On top of all of its top-tier internal engineering and design, the Mila Air 3 is also loaded with smart features. It’s got built-in sensors that can tell when your in-home air quality is lacking and it displays the status of the air quality on its display. It also has a built-in carbon monoxide sensor and you can check in on the air quality in your house any time you want through the smartphone app. Plus, it gives you a monthly home health report that explains air trends in not only your home, but in your neighborhood.
The Mila Air 3 works with Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, and Google Home, too. It’s also easy to set up and the interface is incredibly user-friendly.
Clean Air Made Easy
The Mila Air 3 gives you two choices: you can either purchase the device only and buy your filters separately, or you can purchase the device and subscribe to the filter auto refill program. The advantage of the subscription plan is that instead of paying $408 for the device, you pay just $349 and your first filter is free— you can choose whichever one you want. Then, you’ll get a fresh filter in the mail every six months. Plus, it lengthens your warranty from 2 years to 3 years with 5 years of extended coverage. Honestly, the subscription is a no-brainer from a price and convenience perspective.
Air quality is often one of those things that you can’t truly appreciate until you find yourself in a situation where it’s lacking. For allergy sufferers, moms to be, pet parents, parents of small children, and of course people experiencing the aftermath of an event like a large-scale fire, having a reliable, hardworking air purifier is nothing short of essential. But, even if you think the air you’re breathing is perfectly fine, you can still benefit from cleaner, fresher air— it’s so important to our overall health and wellbeing. The beauty of a high-quality air purifier like the Mila Air 3 is that it’s a fairly small price to pay to take care of yourself from the inside out.
