In an effort to battle the pre-winter scaries, I started looking into booking a holiday escape. It seemed like a no-brainer to invite my mom along on my trip, and we quickly realized we were both in desperate need of new vacation looks. I had been wanting to try a few dresses from Kenny Flowers for some time now, so I loaded up my cart with silhouettes I thought might work for the both of us.
For resort wear, Kenny Flowers is a go-to. The brand was started when founder Kenny Haisfield left his corporate job to move to Bali, where he started designing Hawaiian shirts. After marrying luxury travel influencer Jetset Christina, the pair expanded the line into women’s resort and swimwear. Their pieces are comfortable and ethically made in boutique factories in Bali and Colombia—injecting the spirit of these gorgeous destinations into all the clothes they make. Each piece is designed to make you look good, so that you feel good. The tropical prints are meant to help bring the sunshine along wherever you go–whether that be a beach, a resort, or a friend’s BBQ.
I was excited to test Kenny Flowers’ claim that they had something to dress the whole family. Although people occasionally can't tell us apart without scrutinizing our outfits, my mom and I have different styles and builds, so finding something for both of us in one place sounded daunting. My mom is athletically-built and as a year-round resident of the Hamptons, loves a more preppy look. I, on the other hand, am a Brooklyn girl at heart–with a closet full of eccentric fashion to prove it. Luckily, we wear the same size, so I was excited to see if these dresses were as versatile as they seemed.

It’s wine o’clock somewhere! The Napa dress is designed to stand out against a gorgeous, vineyard backdrop. My mom and I both loved the deep-blue, floral print, especially contrasted with my mom’s year-round tan. Bonus: you’ll surely stand out if you get lost wandering the vines. The ruffle sleeve detail was extremely flattering and the stretchy, smocked back will move with you if you have your fill of the charcuterie, or need to walk a few miles to sightsee. Throw on this dress and raise a glass to a much needed vacation.

When a chic, city girl goes on vacation what does she wear? The Jetset. I imagined myself relaxing at a resort in Palm Beach in this dress. The understated luxury of the perfect LBD never disappoints. As someone guilty of frequently wearing the color black, I think this was one of my favorite styles. Both my mom and I chose to wear the dress with the shoulder ties, but you can tuck them in for a strapless look. We both felt like this was one of the most flattering dresses we tried, as the color and cut were universally slimming. My mom looked like the biggest diva on the beach, pairing this dress with a sunhat and oversized glasses. This dress embodies the perfect vacation—a little bit of luxe and a lot of fun.

You’re strolling to the beach bar to pick up a margarita and no one can take their eyes off of you—it's probably because you’re wearing The Kona dress. The bold, floral pattern screams vacation. It was the perfect sundress to style with sandals and a sunhat to beat the daytime heat or with a pair of heels for an upscale dinner. The bright pattern and more voluptuous cut were daunting for my 57 year old mom, but she was happy to discover that she could throw the straps around her neck for a halter top look.

Maybe a city vibe is more your vacation style. This leopard maxi is the perfect piece to switch from day to night, and remain the fiercest person on the streets. The sexy, ankle-length design is chic and practical for an all-day adventure. My mom loved this style because of the slip dress cut, which was super flattering on her figure. I loved it for the ease of throwing it on with sandals and a slicked-back bun—it made for the easiest dinner look ever.

We both felt right at home wearing The Nantucket, the oyster print was a reminder of summers in the Hamptons. This dress looks just as cute on a northeastern beach as it does when you’re fighting off the winter blues in Greece. The adorable print is perfect for exploring town during the day, or an oceanfront date night. My mom decided to wear the dress with sleeves, but I opted for the off-the-shoulder look to give it a bit of a youthful flair. My favorite feature are the front pockets, which are perfect for storing your most precious mermaid treasures.

So, should these be your go-to vacation looks?
I can see these dresses taking me from a winter vacation in Portugal all the way to a summer night in The Hamptons. The versatility of each piece made them perfect for my mom and I to share. They both flattered and concealed the spots that we wanted them to. I loved them for their youthful features like off-the-shoulder options and deep pockets, while my mom loved them for their full coverage and unique prints. Kenny Flowers can definitely dress this mom and daughter duo – and the brand is also great for the rest of the family, too.
Kenny Flowers has tons of menswear to choose from (golf shirts, linen pants, swim trunks, and even matching prints if you’re a couple who likes to coordinate). And if you have littles running around, include them in the fun as well! There are plenty of matching looks for the whole family which is such a cute vacation vibe.
With trendy prints and quality construction, the only thing difficult about picking Kenny Flowers for your next vacation is narrowing down your shopping cart selections. It’s all worth it – and I’d recommend perusing now as the brand has just kicked off its sitewide sale for Black Friday!
