Launch Digest: Headphones for Swimming, Members-Only Ice Breakers, First-of-Its-Kind Vegan Mucin Cream, and an Outrageous Fishwife Collab With Chaco

Our team is dedicated to finding and telling you more about the web’s best products. If you purchase through our links, we may receive a commission. Our editorial team is independent and only endorses products we believe in.

Welcome to Launch Digest, where we bring you the latest and greatest product launches to hit the market across the DTC universe.

This week, I was working out of Joe & the Juice, and one notable moment was when Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One” came on, and a group of us started singing (quietly), “Looks like we made it. Look how far we’ve come, my baby.” This prompted me to think of all of the amazing(ly brave) brands that keep bringing us “the ones” every week.

Things like underwater swimming headphones, a members-only club app, skincare for teens, mists galore, vegan mucin cream, and the most wild Fishwife collab you’ve ever seen came through, and it’s both making us really excited for what’s to come and also giving us even more of a reason to sing out loud to Cher’s “Believe” (which was the follow-up song to Shania’s at J&TJ).

Notably New

Big things popping. Big things dropping. This week, new brands struck a balance between exclusivity and accessibility with expert-level haircare for the people, skincare for today’s teens, Japanese skincare for the US audience (which is a trend we’re noticing thru and thru), and a members-only club experience to help “break the ice.”

  • Japanese skincare is starting to make waves in the U.S., imbuing a sense of ancient ritualism and modern innovation into all of our beauty routines. Sophistance has officially made its stateside debut, introducing a core line of four (which is totally manageable) anti-aging formulations designed to support the skin’s microbiome and regenerate the skin.
  • Carolyn Aronson has already made waves in the hair industry with It’s a 10 Haircare (which is a legacy brand at this point). Now, she’s leveraging her stranded expertise to deliver affordable, high-performance, and clean haircare to the masses with CLOUD Haircare
  • We all want to know what teens are up to these days. And while some are just keeping their snap streams alive, board-certified derm Dr. Ashley Magovern's daughters, Mary and Sammy, were developing Fawn. Driven by science (not hype), this new teen-made skincare line is all about supporting “today’s youth” (which is my boomer phrase of the day) as their skin endures the stressors of daily life.
  • Remember when members-only clubs were cool…and then they weren’t cool anymore, and then they kind of became cool again? Well, Dion is the new members-only app that is only about fostering cool connections, allowing users to send a bevy at an array of members-only venues to any kind of social connection. Think: ice breaker. Think: social lubricant. Think: learning how to have normal conversations again. Now in NYC.

Dive in Headfirst

Credit: Fishwife, Blue Lagoon

Innovation comes from “getting your feet wet,” but in the case of this week’s launches, you’ll want to do that with Fishwife’s latest insanity (in the best way possible). Obviously more water-based things below, but like, Chaco is invoked, y’all.

  • Yes, swim tech is a thing. Whether you’re looking to make swimming your newest sport, or you just want something to keep you company while you do the butterfly (advanced!), Zygo has officially launched its Z2, which offers enhanced features and settings, and allows you to stream literally anything from any app while you swim.
  • If you grew up in California and watched The OC, then REEF was either a part of your wardrobe or your vocabulary. But get this: the brand has continued to evolve—now with the world’s first bottle opener sneaker,  Fanning Shoe (which might also turn into the ultimate party trick this summer).
  • Speaking of sandals with endless, nostalgic lore, Fishwife teamed up with Chaco (yes, you heard me) to launch the Z/1 Cloud Sandal. There is absolutely nothing fishy about these bad boys. They were designed with sustainability in mind, and you might just find custom illos by Danny “Danbo” Miller on the heel strap…
  • The spring / summer seasons call for a newly revised, lightweight skincare regimen. Blue Lagoon has released its most lightweight formula of their moisturizing holy grail, BL+ The Cream Light, which is tailor made for warm weather and the acne-prone. It continues to leverage the powers of the actual Blue Lagoon for total skin barrier support and all-day radiance.

Mists & Summer Skin Saviors

Credit: Seed to Skin Tuscany, Sweet Chemistry Labs

Wow, the below is so exciting (!) as it relates to skincare (!). Brands that I would refer to as “skin couture-esque” released new drops that are ultra-luxe, summer-focused, and deeply en-misted with taking better care of our body skin with face skin-level ingredients.

  • When it comes to age-defying skincare, Marie Veronique is a first-in-class. This week, the brand released its COLORFREE Zinc Sunscreen (SPF 32), which blends unique skin-conditioning agents and extracts that go above and beyond hydration, and it protects against UV rays and blue light, so you can do the work while doing actual work.
  • Remember when I said Japanese skincare was taking the category by storm? DECORTÉ, Japan’s leading prestige cosmetics brand, dropped its Sun Shelter Multi Protection Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50+ in the U.S. Its lightweight, non-greasy formula leverages traditional Japanese ingredients for super nourishing protection.
  • Italian skincare brand Seed to Skin Tuscany unveiled its hydro-active body serum, The Seru'Mist. It hydrates, revitalizes, and brightens the skin with bio-ferments and potent actives—all face-grade in liquid formation. And honestly, anything the Italians say we should do, we should do.
  • This summer is awwwwlll about hydration, henny. Sweet Chemistry Labs launched The Hydra Duo, which was expertly formulated to rebalance combo skin while also offering benefits for dry skin—driven by their patent-pending polypeptide, Matrikynes®. It’s pricey, but then again, so are results.
  • Kopari decided to tackle summer from all angles with silk and scents. Their latest Silk Renewal Body Duo focuses on skin-nourishing hydration and exfoliation alongside their new  Pink Guava Hair & Body Mist (hair mist is super in, btw). You’ll feel like you’re in Hawaii—even if you’re just in an office.

The nose knows, and this week, our noses led us to a bunch of high-brow fragrances, a “cool girl” Augustinus Bader collab, and picnic-style hair clips taking the “banana” clip to a whole other level.

Before You Go…

“They say” that things must end in order for new things to begin, but before we start anew (and essentially let you get going with your weekend), take in a few more very good things that came to light this week.

  • Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams reimagined a pint of ice cream into its new Ice Cream Bars (J-Bars). Everything you love about Jeni’s, but now on a stick (which is so summer, right?). You’ll find these in four amazing flavors that are described as “voluptuous,” which…say no more.
  • Behold the 2-in-1 trimmer! Fur has officially launched its Trim System, which has been designed for every body—whether you shave here, there, or just want to go completely bare. AND the skin-hugging razor head has been enriched with vitamin E for an extra-gentle glide.
  • We’ve been on the Happy Aging train for a while now, which is why it’s so exciting that they’ve dropped their latest longevity innovation, Hydro Burn. With Molecular Hydrogen (H₂) as the focus, this shot delivers metabolic and cellular benefits, and provides clean, long-lasting energy.
  • SAINT JANE Beauty has really outdone themselves with a game-changing VEGAN Rich Rescue Phyto Mucin Cream. It carries all of the benefits of a mucin cream to transform skin tone and texture, but fully derived from yam root (vs. classic snail mucin). “I yam, who I yam,” this cream screams.
