Welcome to Launch Digest, where we bring you the latest and greatest product launches to hit the market across the DTC universe. This week I’m extremely excited to cover an innovative new skincare product featuring trending product du jour, niacinamide.
One of the summer’s biggest film launches is also killing it on the brand partnership front. From an evocative fragrance collection to a retro-chic makeup edit, this horror film’s marketing team must have been working overtime. As film publicity continues to embrace the experiential, expect more fragrance drops like this one as awards season heats up this fall.
And I’ve got good news for those of us with a sweet tooth: an iconic bakery and an innovative chocolate brand both had major launches this week. My new go-to move for friends’ birthdays (stolen from my sister’s boyfriend, thank you Mark) is to send them a sweet treat to indulge in the morning after their birthday party. These two new offerings are going straight to the top of my gifting list.

First Up: Herbivore’s Latest

Herbivore Botanicals launched its NOVA Turmeric + Niacinamide Bi-Phase Glow Facial Oil, a lightweight, brightening bi-phase oil made with niacinamide, rainbow algae, and turmeric. The formula is designed to blend the benefits of a serum and oil, while minimizing irritation by using Herbivore’s NiaPure™, a first-to-market, bio-fermented niacinamide engineered for sensitive skin. It also features plant-based squalane, one of my all time favorite skincare ingredients.
Trending: Sweet Treats

Beyond Good launched the The Microbatch Collection, a line of four small batch dark chocolates using rare, organic, heirloom cocoa beans from Madagascar and Uganda. The 70-72% cocoa bars come in flavors like Vanilla Bean, Sea Salt & Nibs, Candied Ginger, & Rum Raisins. Beyond Good is the only U.S. chocolate maker producing the finished product at origin in Madagascar, and is known for its commitment to reforestation, biodiversity, and paying farmers 3-5x more than fair trade premiums.

Floral delivery brand UrbanStems and the cookie wizards over at Levain Bakery are teaming up with The Sweet Summer Birthday bundle: a limited-edition bundle featuring a blue-and-white bouquet from UrbanStems and a box of eight Levain cookies. I can tell you from experience that Levain cookies make the perfect birthday gift, and eight of their gooey, oversized cookies will go a long way. Add in a bouquet from UrbanStems and you’ve got a summer gift that’s both easy to order and seriously impressive.
Trending: I Know What You Did Last Summer

Film marketing teams have been getting extra creative this summer: To celebrate the highly-anticipated reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer, fragrance subscription brand Scentbird has dropped a limited-edition discovery set in partnership with the iconic thriller. The Scentbird x I Know What You Did Last Summer Set features five story-driven scents from brands like Arquiste, Mancera, Binaurale, and Commodity that represent key moments in the film. Scentbird also collaborated with IKWYDLS studio Sony Pictures and movie theater chain Regal for a “Scent-Along” screening experience in NYC, where The Discovery Set’s five scents were integrated into key moments of the film. These kinds of immersive, experiential promotional events are becoming more and more popular for major film releases as studios try to get audiences excited to get out of the house and see movies in theaters.

The I Know What You Did Last Summer PR engine followed this up with an iconic edit from star (& internet it-girl) Gabbriette. To celebrate Gabbriette’s horror debut in I Know What You Did Last Summer, MAC released The MAC Killer Lip Combo, a 90’s-inspired, vampy look based on the Pinterest board Gabbriette shared with the on-set team who designed her look for the film. MAC has been leaning into these influencer collabs all summer, and are a perfect match for I Know What You Did Last Summer’s innovative marketing campaign.
