When I was in my twenties, I’d look in the mirror and just assume that everything would remain as it was. Jowls? Never! Nasal labial folds? Over my dead body! A number 11 in between my eyebrows? Blasphemy! Ah, how youth is wasted on the young!
As I’ve been making my way through my thirties, however, I’ve come to understand the very grave truth that—if you want things to stay high, tight, and collagenic—there is work needed to maintain and support the inevitable gravitational pull that will come for your face in due time. But, being the Wellness Witch™ that I am, I wanted to get ahead of things the good ol’ natural way (meaning no injectables, please).
Microcurrent—aka low-level electrical current that essentially prompts the energy in your cells to get the f*** to work—quickly became “the thing” with the most consensus. I performed extensive research and the ZIIP HALO 2.0 slayed all of the competition with its highly unique technology, app-based programming, and instantaneous results.
Here’s everything that went down (but also up, if you know what I mean).

We like
- App-connected, so you can pick and choose which treatment works best for you (based on your skin's mood!)
- Delivers immediate results that you can see in just 4 minutes
- Is the only at-home device to combine microcurrent and Nanocurrent™, creating deeper, more lift-worthy results over time
- Created by an electrical esthetician and mechanical engineer with expansive knowledge of skincare and technology
- Beloved by celebrities like Jen Aniston, Margot Robbie, and Gillian Anderson
We don't like
- Requires consistent use to see long-term results (3-5 sessions per week)
- Is undoubtedly an investment, running at about $399
If You Aren’t Already a Part of the Microcurrent Conversation
Anyone can take to the internet to find out what microcurrent is and does, but I wanted deep knowledge, so I asked ZIIP’s very own Co-Founder Melanie Simon for her take. “Our cells naturally run on electrical signals, and microcurrent taps into that communication system to wake things up, energize the tissue, and support the processes that keep skin looking lifted, bright, and alive. When you apply microcurrent to the skin, you’re giving your cells a little nudge, like saying, ‘Hey, remember what you’re supposed to be doing?’”
That thing that’s being specifically nudged is ATP, which is the energy source for every cell in your body (think: red light). “More ATP means better collagen and elastin production, improved circulation, and that beautiful, sculpted, post-facial look people love.”
One of the biggest wins for microcurrent is its ability to deliver results without causing any trauma to the skin. It quite literally works with the skin rather than against it, “supporting regeneration instead of forcing it.”

The Science Behind ZIIP
Now that we’ve covered microcurrent, it’s important to understand how ZIIP does microcurrent. Their secret sauce? They are the first and only device to also harness Nanocurrent™, which is a part of the electrical spectrum in which Simon herself has spent her entire career working.
She explained, “Nanocurrent™ is thousands of times smaller than traditional microcurrent, but that’s the sweet spot. These ultra-tiny waveforms speak directly to your cells, encouraging real regeneration, supporting skin repair, and creating results that build over time. It’s not just about a quick lift, it’s about changing the skin at a deeper level so it stays healthier, stronger, and more radiant with consistent use.”
The other key differentiator that sets ZIIP apart from and above the rest is its uniquely designed app that carries an entire library of full-face and targeted treatments expertly designed by Simon. “It’s basically my brain in your phone…You just tap a treatment, follow along, and the app sends the exact electrical waveform directly to your device. It means you’re getting a professional, curated treatment every single time.”

My Face on ZIIP
It’s worth noting that this was not my first foray into at-home microcurrenting. I have dabbled with both low-end and high-end devices in the past, so I had somewhat of a baseline of what to expect. Of all the devices I have tried, my newly received ZIIP HALO 2.0 was certainly the sexiest and the most conveniently sized—quite literally a handheld, wireless device that fit into the curve of the palm of my hand.
While I was suss of anything that I’d have to connect to an app to get the most out of, I was like, “fine!” and went for The Everything Facial, a 12-minute treatment famously known as ZIIP’s “longest, most complex treatment that will achieve all of ZIIP’s transformative skin results.”

I turned on The English Patient (because a psychic told me to), turned the lights down low, applied the lightweight Electric Complex Gel (for conduction purposes), and let the current run through me.
Immediately, I could feel some minor tingling, which I personally loved. “It’s working,” I thought. I followed Simon as she guided us through the glide, as I’ll call it. It was seamless and extremely satisfying.
After 12 minutes, I saw a noticeable difference in the tone, texture, and lift of my face. Any acne inflammation brewing under the surface was immediately quelled, my brows looked raised without strain, my cheekbones were daring to pop out, and my jawline was anything but gravity-effected. “This is how I’ll get through the Year of the Horse,” I said as I quickly returned to my English Patient shadow work.

Get to Know the Gels
A quick break from our regularly scheduled programming to discuss the magic of ZIIP’s powerful gel collection.
I was sent the Discovery Gels, which consist of the Golden, Silver, and Crystal Gels. Admittedly, I had no idea what each one was for or how they differed from the classic core conductor gel I had used, so I tapped Melanie once more.
She clarified, “Each ZIIP Conductive Gel is like a little personality for your skin, and I love using them strategically. Honestly, I love rotating them depending on what my skin needs that day—collagen, clarity, or hydration. It’s like giving your skin exactly what it’s craving, every single time.”
Your collagen MVP. “If you want lift, firmness and that sculpted, rejuvenated feeling, this is your go-to. It’s packed with bio-placenta, growth factors, hematite, niacinamide, and yes, 24-karat gold - basically, your skin’s golden ticket to looking revitalized and strong after a treatment.”

Consistency Is Key
For Simon, consistency is the real answer to results with the HALO. “You don’t need marathon sessions, you need little bursts of electricity several times a week. I always say aim for three-to-five sessions, around 10 minutes, and let those tiny currents do their cumulative magic.”
You can expect to feel something right away like an added glow, or that tightened, lifted feeling you get after a facial, but Simon recommends regular use for a real transformation. “Give it four-to-eight weeks and you’ll see those deeper, structural changes in tone and firmness. And the best part? As long as you keep using it, the results don’t just stay…they build.”

ZIIP, ZAP, ZOP
Since my initial 12-minute session, I’ve continued to ZIIP both seriously and casually (meaning I’ve had many a 4-minute, un-apped session when I don’t have the time to sync). Regardless of whether I’m using a defined program, or just defining my facial structure with a little less tech infrastructure, I’ve noticed a significant shift in face. Just the other day, in fact, my friend said, “WTF are you doing with your skin? I’ve never seen it look like this.”
I also love how easily travelable ZIIP is, meaning I can take my lift on the go. Along with my red light mask, the ZIIP is quite literally one of the few mainstays in my self-care / skincare routine that I now know I can’t live without. Like, if I were stranded on a desert island, I would have to find a USB port so I could keep it charged (or simply build one myself!!!!).
