Uni Just Dropped Fragrances, and They Smell Like Somewhere You'd Rather Be

The Australian-inspired bodycare brand we can't stop talking about just entered fragrance, and it's as good as we’d hoped.

If you're at all plugged into the beauty world, you already know Uni. The Australian-inspired brand (a Bustle, Forbes, and Byrdie award-winner) has become the de facto bodycare brand for it girls thanks to its hydrating formulas, lightweight feel, and fan-favorite scents. Now, appropriately, they're stepping into fragrance.

The brand's first two scents, Sunset (the same scent as the 24-hour body serum) and Rain, are water-based fragrances, meaning they use water as the carrier instead of alcohol. It's a gentler formula that's more hydrating for your skin, and it wears more subtly than a traditional eau de parfum.

A trick with these, per Uni: apply to the creases of your knees and elbows, where body heat will amplify and extend the scent. It's a small thing, but it makes a real difference with a water-based formula.

While aptly describing a fragrance is a tall task, I’ll do my best:

  • Sunset opens with cedar leaf and lemon before unveiling smoked sandalwood, amber, white cedar. In short, it smells like you’re on vacation (in Ischia, more specifically).
  • Rain, on the other hand, leans into petrichor (the incredible word for the smell of post-summer rain). Grapefruit and rain notes up top, mimosa and peony in the heart, patchouli and oakmoss anchoring the base.

The same skin-loving ingredients that make Uni bodycare stand out (and soak in) – sea water, Kakadu Plum, Finger Lime – show up here too. Take it from someone who’s sensitive to powerful fragrances: these are simple and wonderful and feel good on the skin.

Both are available in a full 50ml ($72) and a 10ml ($28). I’d recommend stocking up with at-home and on-the-go versions, as the brand is a heavy hitter, and I have a sneaky suspicion they won’t last long.
