As a parenting editor, I’ve spent a lot of time researching, writing about, and trying prenatal vitamins. After years of research – and many prenatals tested – Ritual is the brand I keep coming back to.
We’ve covered Ritual extensively since the very beginning here at TQE, and we’re not ashamed to admit: we’re ginormous fans. Ritual approaches supplements differently – their formulas are science-backed, obsessively transparent, and designed to focus on the key nutrients that actually matter.
So when I heard that Ritual’s Essential Prenatal is now available at Costco, it’s not a stretch to say I felt personally invested – and, honestly, celebratory. Because if there’s one thing Costco does well, it’s bringing high-quality products to a wider audience and making them easier (and often more affordable) to access.
Here’s what to know about the launch…
First, A Quick Refresher on Why Ritual’s Prenatal is So Popular

If you’ve ever gone down the prenatal vitamin rabbit hole, you know it can get confusing fast. Many formulas include long lists of nutrients, but the sourcing, dosage, and bioavailability and absorption aren’t always clear.
Ritual built its brand around solving exactly that problem. Ritual’s Essential Prenatal is designed to fill common nutrient gaps during pregnancy, including folate (as methylated folate), choline, omega-3 DHA, iron, vitamin D, iodine, and vitamin B12.
Equally important: every active and other ingredient is traceable. You can literally see where the nutrients come from and why they’re included (extremely rare in a murky supplement space).
And, to top it all off, Ritual took the extra step of conducting a 24-week university-led randomized, double-blind clinical trial comparing Essential Prenatal to another leading prenatal multivitamin.
The study followed 62 pregnant women in their second and third trimesters. Researchers found that women taking Ritual had more efficient folate utilization compared to a leading prenatal, 2.4× higher more biotin in maternal blood, lower overall serum cortisol level during pregnancy, and higher markers of P1NP levels, a measure of bone formation, in umbilical cord blood. More women taking Ritual also rated Essential Prenatal easy to take and gentle on the stomach compared to those taking a leading prenatal.*†
Clinical studies on finished prenatal formulas are still surprisingly rare in the supplement industry, which makes Ritual’s investment in real-world research stand out.
As Ritual founder and CEO Katerina Schneider puts it:
“I know personally the skepticism women have when they are looking for a prenatal vitamin, it's why I started Ritual. Partnering with a retailer like Costco, with their deep commitment to high standards for safety and efficacy, deepens our ability to set a new standard in supplements for women's health. Everyone should have access to high quality prenatal vitamins and Costco allows us to reach more women who value clinically backed supplements and high standards for safety.”
Why Seeing Ritual at Costco is a Big Deal

Costco doesn’t just add products to its shelves casually. The retailer is famously selective about what makes it into warehouses, which is why the supplement aisle is often filled with legacy brands that have been around for decades.
The addition of Ritual signals something interesting: a newer, transparency-driven supplement company is now sitting alongside traditional brands in one of the most trusted retail environments in the country.
On that note, Ritual is now available at select locations in California, Utah, Nevada, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho. And through Ritual’s GoAisle offer, you can get $15 off the 2-pack at select Costco locations.
The Details:
- 120 capsules (60-day supply)
- On sale for $10 off until 3/15. That's $38.99 for a 60 day supply (compared to $78 for a 2-month supply elsewhere)
- Equivalent to two 30-day bottles
The Bottom Line

As someone who has covered prenatal nutrition for years, I’ve always appreciated Ritual’s thoughtful approach to supplements – and seeing the brand expand into Costco feels like an exciting next step, both for Ritual and Costco shoppers.
If you’re already a Ritual fan, it’s a convenient way to stock up. And if you’ve been curious about trying the prenatal you’ve read so much about? Your next Costco run might be the perfect opportunity.
