A recent discussion with my healthcare professional friends brought my uniform dreams to an abrupt halt. From the Internet to Our Nurse’s Door
Though there was so much bad out of the pandemic, one overwhelming positive that emerged is a true appreciation for healthcare workers. Before the pandemic, nurses, doctors, and other medical professionals were rarely thanked for what they did, and their PPE (or personal protective equipment) seemed to be a backburner item. Now, brands like JAANUU are taking a stand with healthcare workers and providing them with the tools they need – like scrubs that actually feel good.
We are lucky enough to have a close friend, Katy, who is an outpatient nurse in Austin, Texas. One of the best things about Katy is her total honesty about how she’s doing and feeling. She regularly admits that the pandemic was really hard on her, which breaks my heart every time.
It’s this candor, though, that had me thinking she was the right person to give JAANUU a spin for us. Thankfully, she agreed to give it a go and the scrubs were delivered straight to her door. The packaging is simple, sterile, and efficient. In terms of time, the delivery was also pretty fast, too, especially during these holiday times of shipping delays.
Fit Check
Katy is about 5’9”, so when she learned there was a “tall” option, she was pumped. Her first impressions were that she liked the scrubs a lot, the fit was spot on and the first touch of the fabric was a pleasantly comfortable surprise (more on that later).
We think Katy looks amazing in the scrubs, especially with the gathered bottom of the pant leg and the tapered top. She likes the way they fit, too, and suggested for those that carry weight in the hips or arms to size up one size. In terms of other features, which frankly, I didn’t know scrubs could have, she really likes the drawstring on the pants… I guess when you gotta go at work, you gotta go fast as a nurse. Not only that, she said there’s a ton of pocket space which is helpful for the many things she’ll carry throughout the day from room to room... IYKYK. Not only are the pockets in the right places, but there are also badge loops so you don’t have to awkwardly hang your badge in your v-neck and make that “v” even deeper.
With fabric designed to let you move freely, JAANUU scrubs are also wrinkle-resistant, stain-resistant, fade-resistant, and antimicrobial, so no matter what liquids or…other things…spill on you, your fit’s got you covered. From a price perspective, the JAANUU scrubs hit right on target with other scrubs, which isn’t always the case with some DTC brands. It’s absolutely awesome when you can get a better substitute for the existing product at the same or lesser price.
