It’s not very often that you feel like a skincare line makes you want to dress better, look better, be better, and maybe even call your mom.
But then again, Herbal Face Food isn’t like all other skincare. In fact, I’d dare to say Herbal Face Food isn’t like any skincare brand I’ve seen or tried within the very crowded space that is “clean skincare.” Dramatic, I know! (But then again, so are the results.)
This is all thanks to Founder + CEO J. Michael Zenn’s own skin-healing journey that led him to see the power of antioxidants first hand. Touting a “heal you can feel,” Herbal Face Food relies on nothing but the most potent blends of nature’s best herbal botanicals and oils that’ll leave your face tingling toward a reverse aging clock. Zenn has had it with brands saying they’re “clean” when they’re not or “results-driven” when they don’t actually produce any results.
Filled with verve to change my routine once again (and flared hormonal acne that wouldn’t seem to calm down), I decided to titillate my face with 30 days of Herbal Face Foods 100% plant-powered lineup.
- The products are concentrated with some of the most potent blends of antioxidant, herbal botanicals on the market
- All ingredients are organic, never heated or messed with, and wild-harvested from rare and remote corners of the globe
- You will not find one synthetic ingredient in their products
- The brand practices what it preaches with zero-waste production and ethically sourced ingredients
- Results can be seen / felt in as little as three hours
- A little bit goes a long way
- Their packaging is next-level beautiful

- Not gonna lie, the price point is quite high (but I know, I know, you literally get what you pay for, and the products take months to run out).
Skincare That Packs a Potent Punch
There’s a reason that the queen of all queens, Gisele Bündchen, opts to use Herbal Face Food as a part of her clean beauty regimen.
Rather than pushing some kind of a be-all-end-all magical potion of sorts, Herbal Face Food is emphatic that “it’s simply the best of plant science at work.” No marketing hubbub, no BS, just antioxidants and phytonutrients that heal the skin at a cellular level “from the outside in.”
Using essentially every antioxidant-heavy plant ingredient in nature—astaxanthin, helichrysum, lavender, clove, thyme, ylang ylang, lemon, manuka, blue yarrow, and carrot seed, to name a few (and there are literally so many)—every product in the skincare line has been formulated for different strength levels to slow, stop, and reverse any visible signs of aging..sometimes in as little as three days.
All of their ingredients are organic, ethically sourced, never heated, and wild-harvested from rare corners of the globe so as to preserve their age-fighting properties and resilience. After all, as Zenn says, “Plants are the original Scientists. Plants are the ancient Estheticians.”
TL;DR: Reasons We Trust Herbal Face Food:
- Ethically sourced
- 100% plant-powered
- Zero synthetic, man-made ingredients
- Everything is raw, untreated, and wild-harvested
- Clinically-proven, fast-acting results
All The Things I Tried
So as to cover all of my bases and give Herbal Face Food a real chance to “do its thing,” I tried all of the products from their line—with the exception of The Serum II and III, which I hope to work up to in the future.
Here’s the breakdown in the daily order that I’d use each one:
The Cure X Soap
Don’t be fooled. This is not your average bar of soap with 50 of the world’s most powerful botanicals, including the top 20 rarest, most expensive plant concentrates on the planet. It smells just like all of the other Herbal Face Food products, which IYKYK (hint: it smells like if nature had its own spa). While I had the option to use this for my face and body, I opted to use it for my face twice a day, which was unlike any experience I had ever had, considering I have never used a bar of soap for my face.
I’d work it into an herbal lather between my hands, which would then serve as my face wash. After every cleanse, my face tingled to the touch, feeling like it had just gone through an anti-aging car wash in the best way possible.

The Cure X
As one of Herbal Face Food’s most powerful products, The Cure X is ideal for extreme multi-correction. Think: scars, acne, sun spots, or any targeted area that needs extra attention. Like the Cure X Soap, this serum contains an outrageous amount of botanicals and plant concentrates.
As I mentioned, I had been dealing with some pretty voracious acne, so I was glued to The Cure X twice a day for an extra antioxidant boost. What I loved was the dermal-warming experience (which the brand states is a thermo-phytochemical reaction) that let me know the product was deeply penetrating my skin. I know experts say, “you shouldn’t have to feel your face burning to know a product is working,” but I had no doubt that my skin barrier was being replenished, protected, and nourished with every intense tingling sensation. Also, objectively, my spots and discoloration lessened almost immediately.

The Serum I
This serum is the ultimate introduction to the entire Herbal Face Food line. With a more mild formula, The Serum I helps the skin adapt to a higher concentration of plant actives. Over time, you’re meant to work up to The Serum II and III as your skin adjusts to the intensity. All of the serums in the line have anti-viral, anti-aging, antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory properties that are as gentle as they are powerful.
All of that being said, don’t mistake The Serum I as “weak sauce.” I applied this twice a day post-The Cure X, and it was like my face became its own skin sizzle reel. My face would flush red, which freaked me out at first, but as it calmed down, I noticed I had more radiance and definitely more tightness. I tongue-popped at least five times the first week I used this.

The Eye Cream
So now would be a good time to stop the presses and hold the phone. The Eye Cream is like, maybe one of the most legendary products I’ve ever tried (and I’ve honestly dabbled in so many over-promising, under-effective eye creams).
The Eye Cream is one of Herbal Face Food’s newer additions that they’re calling “The Holy Grail of Eye Cream,” and I don’t think I can disagree! It contains 200 of the planet’s most powerful and anti-aging and regenerative botanicals, which is why the price tag is an eye-opener. Not to mention, it’s edible (if you were that hungry). Not only does it claim to combat visible signs of aging, damage, and stress, but it also penetrates all seven layers of eye skin, including eye and lash rejuvenation.
After I applied my serum, I would dab the tiniest amount (you only need a little) around my eye, smoothing it in with Herbal Face Food’s soothing and smoothing Eye Roller. Then, I’d let it sink in for a couple of minutes before heading to the grand finale.

We’ve already stopped the presses and held the phone, so maybe now we can shut the front door.
Another one of Herbal Face Food’s more revolutionary innovations, The Cream is the most potent moisturizer ever tested on a SHMI (Skin Hydration Measurement Instrument), containing 102 botanicals. It is so powerful that it provides 50+ SPF protection, just from antioxidants alone.
Like The Eye Cream, I only needed a pea-sized amount of The Cream in order to moisturize my whole face. Beware: It goes on orange, but doesn’t stay orange for long because my face would absorb all of that botanical goodness. My skin stayed hydrated all day and night long, and there wasn’t one day that a random person didn’t say, “Wow, you’re glowing. What’s changed?”

My Tingly 30-Day Skinsperiment
After 30 days, I’ve gotta say, I’m really, really impressed. On the most basic level, I’ve simply loved the process of watching my skin transform.
Although I’ve taken really great care of my skin, doing what I thought was “right,” my texture was still rough, dry, and seemingly aging to no avail! Throughout my trial, I watched my skin texture smooth and brighten. I saw dark spots diminish and acne calm the F down. No, Herbal Face Food can’t necessarily stop hormonal breakouts in their tracks, but it absolutely reduced the amount of time I was suffering as well as the spots left behind once my active acne healed.
I was most blown away by The Eye Cream, which actually (and I’m not exaggerating) reduced the onslaught of fine lines appearing around my eyes. My only call-out: all of these products are next-level effective, but require twice-weekly exfoliation to ensure that there is no oil buildup.
Hungry for Herbal Face Food
I know I come from a place of privilege to have tried essentially the entire Herbal Face Food product portfolio. If you’ve made it this far in this review, you now know the products are anything but cheap—if not some of the more expensive skincare products you’ve witnessed in recent times. However, I’m going to die on a hill telling you that I think every single thing I tried was worth the money.
Each product lasted far beyond the month (it might take me six months to get through both creams), and the results were undeniable. I was also able to stop using all of my other layering serums, going all in on just these products. I felt renewed at the end of my trial, which is certainly just the beginning of my new skincare chapter.
If you’re on the fence, I get it. Why not just tickle your fancy and your skin with The Starter Bundle to let the power of nature convince you itself.
