Cyklar Is TikTok’s Favorite Bodycare Brand – and It Girl Claudia Sulewski Is Just Getting Started

Over the past few years, Claudia Sulewski has become one of my favorite comfort YouTube creators. While she originally gained popularity on the platform as ‘BeyondBeautyStar’ when she was just 13 years old, Sulewski now posts snippets of life as an influencer, behind-the-scenes renovations of her Los Angeles home, and moments with boyfriend singer-songwriter Finneas O'Connell.

Sulewski is also known as the founder of TikTok-beloved brand Cyklar, which she launched in October 2023. Over the past year, Cyklar has gained a lot of buzz within the beauty world, specifically for their bodycare products like this Santal body wash and these perfume oils. I can’t seem to open TikTok without seeing someone rave about their products.

My First-hand Thoughts

I had the opportunity to test out the brand’s Sacred Santal Body Wash and Lotion, and I can attest to the fact that it does indeed smell and feel devine. The body wash is infused with a multi-oil complex and contains moisture-locking ingredients like glycerin, sodium PCA, and a fatty acid water that helps your skin barrier. 

The Sacred Santal Nutrient Rich Body Cream is also packed full of moisturizing ingredients like banana flower extra, which has prebiotics to help soothe, Niacinamide (a skincare savior) that helps promote a healthy skin barrier, and prickly pear water to help boost skin’s hydration. There was no stickiness after application and it didn’t require a lot of rubbing for the cream to fully absorb into my skin. 

As for the perfume oils, I found myself reaching for Bergamont Bond versus the scent Sex Musk on a daily basis because I love the top notes of Bergamot and Lavender. Needless to say, Cyklar has made a fan of me, and I was lucky enough to chat with Sulewski to learn more about the brand. Below, the starlet shares the story behind the brand – and what’s next.

TQE: Tell me a little about how Cyklar came to be and what made you decide to take the leap and start a bodycare brand?

CS: “When I set out to build Cyklar, I knew I wanted to create a product that delivered not only on performance but also on experience. Combining skincare ingredients for the body in a luxurious, sensorial format that considers formulation, fragrance, and packaging. At the time, I felt there was space to create a body care brand that prioritized the two. As I formulate and build out new launches, that approach has remained the same.”

TQE: What is the story behind the name of the brand?

CS: “As a self-confessed people pleaser, I have spent most of my adult life overextending myself and meeting everyone else's needs before my own. After years of striving for perfection and failing, one day it clicked for me — I can only take care of others once I truly take care of myself. The name CYKLAR is inspired by that sentiment and CYCLE. Body care has always been my go-to. I dreamt of building a product that would inspire and encourage myself & hopefully others to indulge in those few extra moments.”

TQE: How did you decide which products you wanted to launch first?

CS: “I knew I wanted to start with building the foundation of one's body care routine — body wash, body cream, and body oil. Products that help to elevate those everyday in and out of shower rituals.” 

TQE: What was the thought process behind choosing your core scents?

CS: “Crafting fragrances has been such an exciting part of Cyklar! With my core scents, I knew I wanted to provide different profiles that all felt like they could exist in the same world. A woods, citrus, floral, vanilla, and of course, my original fragrance ‘Crescent,’ that's bright and cozy. Once I nailed down my categories, I asked myself, ‘How can I put my Cyklar spin on these classic fragrance profiles?’ The goal is to combine notes that deliver a luxurious, elevated fragrance that can still sit within an everyday routine.”

TQE: Tell me a little bit about your newest launch, the Vitamin C Body Oil. How do you recommend using the product, and what step of your body care routine should it be?

CS: “The Vitamin C Body Oil moisturizes and nourishes the skin without that sticky, greasy feeling. This oil is lightweight and sinks in quickly, which to me is what makes it so special. You actually want to use it every day. Our Vitamin C is a highly stable antioxidant that brightens while also shielding the skin from environmental stressors. I recommend using it straight out of the shower when your skin is still damp for optimal absorption.”

TQE: If someone is new to the brand, what is the one bodycare product and perfume you recommend they try out first?

CS: “I would recommend the Sensorial Body Wash in Sacred Santal. I'm so proud of our silky, oil-infused body wash, which truly transforms when lathered on the skin. This product leaves you feeling so hydrated and yummy. Sacred Santal encapsulates my fragrance mission with Cyklar — a luxurious gender-neutral scent that feels grounded while offering a modern spin to it. It's alluring and glowing yet warm and sophisticated. Notes of cardamom, guaiac wood, amber, velvet musk, vanilla ... it's addicting!”

TQE: Where do you source your inspiration for your brand?

CS: “This answer might feel cliche, but I source inspiration from everywhere! My friends and family, Pinterest, other brands in the beauty space, sometimes even the fashion and design world — those initial ideas can range anywhere from a fragrance dream, an idea for a component, or how I wish a certain product would feel. The same applies to the visual storytelling of the brand as well.” 

TQE: It was so cool to see you conceptualize the Cyklar ad for your body wash on your YouTube channel – do you plan on continuing to mix your love of acting with the brand in the future? 

CS: “Thank you! I love to wear different hats, and getting to blend the two different worlds was very fun for me. There's so much freedom in expression for marketing, I hope to do more of it soon.”

As for what we can expect next from Ckylar this year, Sulewski revealed “I am excited to introduce new products in different categories for the body and expand on our fragrance story… That's all I can say for now.”
