Welcome to Launch Digest, where we bring you the latest and greatest product launches to hit the market across the DTC universe. This week I’m so excited to report back from one of the hottest fragrance launches the US has seen this summer, which helped introduce a Japanese cult fave to American audiences.
I’ve also got news of a major format switch up in the beauty world: the end of liquid product supremacy. For the last few years, gel blushes and foundations dominated cosmetic launches. Now, some of our favorite beauty brands are expanding their offerings to include powder-based formats, from established institutions of the cosmetic industry to TikTok’s favorite emerging brand.
There’s also a delicious trend emerging in the hair & body care space this week, with brands embracing honey as the anchor ingredient in a wide range of products I simply can’t wait to get my hands on. Honey has been seen as a beauty super ingredient for millennia, and with good reason: honey is believed to have moisturizing, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties, making it an extremely flexible ingredient to build products around. This week we saw brands using honey in everything from bar soap to lotion to hair products.

First Up: The Best New Scented Hair Oil

The only thing my friends have been talking about this week is Japanese fragrance company Diffar’s pop up at Cibone. Cibone is far and away the most interesting home store in Brooklyn, importing the best in contemporary Japanese home & kitchen wares, accessories, fragrance, and more. Diffar recently brought their coveted perfumed hair oils for a special pop up at the trendsetting store. Every element of Diffar’s products is stunning, from their delicately balanced fragrances to their gorgeous, colorful bottle design. Their hair oils are now available online for American customers via the Diffar website. I’ve been wearing their elegant, elusive Tokyo Balance Hair Oil every day this month.
Trending: Powder Power

Saie Beauty just launched the latest product in their popular Slip Tint family, the Slip Tint Undetectable Baked Setting Powder. The powder is designed to set your make up while subtly blurring, brightening, and smoothing your complexion. Following the launch of their SuperSuede Baked Blush, it seems like Saie is going all-in on developing a range of powder-based products to complement their ultra popular liquid Dew Blush and Glowy Super Gel (both of which are essentially the only make up I wear daily). Saie also released a new All Over Powder Brush to apply the setting powder.
MAC Cosmetics has also launched a powder product: the Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation. This is meant to be used as a one-step combined foundation and setting powder for mattifying coverage. After the dominance of gels and liquid products for the past few years, it seems like powders are back on the rise this summer.
Trending: Honey, Please!

Gisou launched its new Honey Gloss Ceramide Therapy Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner this week, a gloss-boosting, frizz-taming duo that includes fermented Mirsalehi Honey, ceramides, and hyaluronic acid. The launch rounds out the brand’s hydrating Honey Gloss collection which includes the Ceramide Therapy Hydrating Hair Mask.

Gisou aren’t the only brand celebrating honey this summer: Flamingo Estate recently launched their Manuka Body Duo, a honey-drenched bath & body set that combines their classic Manuka Rich Cream and their new Manuka Soap Brick. Manuka honey is famous for its antibacterial & healing properties, a moisturizing panacea used to soothe everything from sunburns to grazed knees. The Manuka Body Duo comes in a beautiful Flamingo Estate Gift Box, the perfect thing to bring a host this summer.
