As the days get shorter and we all recover from the barrage of BFCM sales last week, Launch Digest is taking a beat to slow down and reflect on the past year. We’ll be breaking down 2025’s biggest trends in some of our favorite product categories in order to set the stage for some big picture predictions for 2026. When I started researching this series, there was no question of what category I wanted to start with: to quote Phoebe Waller-Bridge, “Hair is everything.”
My first stop was Spoke and Weal’s Soho salon to chat with master stylist Liz Criscione. If any salon has its finger on the pulse, it’s Spoke and Weal’s Bond St. location – they’re so enmeshed in the New York fashion industry that they have special discounts for modeling agencies. While Liz cut my hair, I grilled her about the biggest hairstyling trends of 2025, and where she sees things going in 2026. “Less is more,” she told me. Low maintenance styles are in: clients want cuts and products that allow them to effortlessly roll out of bed and air dry their hair. “Dry texture spray and dry shampoo that help give you some body” were the hair-taming products she got asked about the most this year. She pointed to the viral success of K18’s Molecular Repair Hair Mask and Detox Shampoo as further evidence of people wanting easy ways to keep hair strong, clean, and healthy. Looking ahead to 2026, Liz predicts a continued trend away from shorter, more high maintenance cuts toward longer, low-key looks. “It’s 60’s meets 90’s,” she said: bouncy layers easily achievable with the right cut.
On the product launch front (this is Launch Digest, after all!) 2025 saw the rise of haircare products and treatments using the same science-backed approach as sophisticated skincare brands, and the trend shows no sign of slowing down. According to Yelp’s 2026 Beauty, Wellness, and Lifestyle Trend Forecast, searches for advanced hair treatments like PRP hair restoration and stem cell hair restoration were up as much as 567%. Brands like Act + Acre introduced hair and scalp products with skincare-aficiando-approved ingredients like hyaluronic acid and peptides. And everyone from Arey to Nutrafol expanded haircare beyond the shower with hair health boosting supplements. As consumers continue to be more educated than ever about the efficacy of hair and beauty ingredients, we can expect this trend to hold strong in 2026.
To tide us over until 2026, here are the 5 best hair product launches of 2025:

Best Purifying Treatment:
Famed hairdresser David Mallett runs one of our favorite hair salons in New York City, and his products are just as luxurious and effective as his in-salon treatments. The Australian Salt Scrub is an ingenious scrub-shampoo hybrid that purifies and detoxifies. The unique formula’s star ingredient is pink salt from Australia’s Murray River, which is then purified and blended with white clay. The scrub is revitalizing and luxe, giving you the feeling of being in one of Mallett’s gorgeous salons from the comfort of your own bathroom.

Best Hydrating Mask:
Arey launched their newest deep hydration hair mask, the Masque Deep Conditioner, back in September, and it’s quickly become our favorite hydrating product this winter. It’s formulated to improve shine, reduce the look of breakage, smooth rough texture and support hair porosity. The silicone-free formula means that it achieves glossy, frizz-taming hydration without heaviness or residue.

Best Heat Protectant:
No list of 2025’s best haircare products would be complete without an entry from biotech beauty brand K18. Their viral Molecular Repair Mask swept the internet with its advanced bond-repairing technology, but it was their new HeatBounce launch that became an essential step in our haircare routine. The feather-light cream-to-mist heat protectant uses an innovative new “ResiliCore” formula to penetrate deep into the hair to defend against high heat, UV damage, and breakage. Like their Repair Mask, HeatBounce targets the deepest layers of the hair where heat damage actually starts.

Best Shine Treatment:
Scandinavian haircare powerhouse Maria Nila came in with a late entry this November that blew us away: the American launch of Gloss Coat, an all-in-one heat-activated smoothing treatment. Celebrity hair stylist Ricky Mota demoed the product at an exclusive event and we’ve been converts ever since. The mist delivers sleek, ultra-glossy, frizz-free hair for up to 4 days, especially when paired with hot tools.

Best Hair Oil:
Japanese fragrance company Diffar celebrated the US launch of their Fragrance Hair Oil this summer with a pop up at Cibone, one of our favorite boutiques in Brooklyn. We love every element of Diffar’s products: their fragrances are delicate, their bottles and packaging are stunning, and their 100% natural hair oil gives the perfect balance of frizz-taming hydration and shine. Their elegant Tokyo Balance Hair Oil has become one of our favorite gifts to give this holiday season.
