In the age of PR gifting and paid influencer partnerships smattered all over social media, it's hard to know whether a recommendation is wholehearted or winking. Is this product actually a must-have? Or did you get it in a gift bag and, yeah, it's not too shabby? Or worse (but understandably)— did your friend found a company and you’re giving her free press?
We want to know: What do people spend real dollar dollar bills on? We're dying to hear what you buy and re-buy, what you recommend with every fiber of your being, what your hard-won earnings go toward. With brands sending free stuff to the micro-est of influencers, we decided it's high time for a roundup series that exclusively includes products that have been purchased and loved outright. Think of Receipts as a fun-things-only money diaries.

Alexandra Grecco has been dressing New York City’s most effortlessly elegant brides since 2014. Designing her made-to-order pieces from NYC’s Garment District, Alexandra’s aesthetic favors timeless silhouettes over microtrends. Her atelier creates unique pieces that combine expert craftsmanship, sensuality, and romance.
We asked Alexandra what she’s been loving lately, and it’s no surprise that her picks blend the best in art, beauty, and design. As Alexandra is clearly an expert in romance, we were especially excited to hear about her most treasured romantic gift given to her by her husband. Whether you’re on the hunt for a foolproof skin-saving moisturizer or a chic space-saving organizer, Alexandra’s clued us in on the products that pass muster under her discerning eye.
Alexandra is a detail-oriented host, whether she’s having friends over at home or entertaining clients in her shop: “These glasses are so fancy and delicate. I have Sophie Lou Jacobsen glasses in my home but love them so much I purchased some for our Flagship in Soho so our clients could enjoy them, too.”

Her aesthetician recently introduced her to a holy grail product: “I was dealing with some mean psoriasis a few months back to the point where I was afraid to test out any new products on my face. Sofie had given me this moisturizer to try out and not only did my skin not react violently like I had feared but instead was calm, content and super moisturized. I've been using it ever since!”

She gets the whole family involved in capturing unforgettable moments: “I'll forever love Polaroid cameras. I got my first one when I was a kid and it worked up until a few years ago. I love to capture behind the scene moments from our photoshoots and I take mine with me whenever I travel. My kids love to take Polaroids too and it's cute to watch them get all serious about the one thing they want to take a photo of because they know how expensive the film is.”

Alexandra endorses a TQE-approved home organization essential: “This isn't the most glamorous thing on my list but it sure is the most functional. I've found myself using a few of Steele Canvas' items both at home and at work. They are made in America too so it's a company I feel good about supporting. We use these baskets in our studio in the garment district to easily transfer paper patterns, cut work, etc. We have one at home for laundry and my husband has had one of their canvas tote bags for nearly a decade and is usually carrying it around when he's out and about with our kids, filling it with literally everything.” (Editor’s note: Steele Canvas’ Laundry Backpack ($120) is one of the best headache-saving home investments you can make.)

Studying fashion history helps inspire her timeless designs: “One of my favorite places to visit in Paris is the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation. It's small but bursting with inspiration and they have an amazing little bookshop/cafe with doors that open into a quiet-ish courtyard. I visited last year during a solo trip to Paris to see the Madame Grès exhibit and it was so stunning. I love getting a little reminder of this visit each time I spot this book on my bookshelf.”

As a bridal designer, she and her partner know how to keep romance alive: “I'm very lucky that my husband seems to be a big fan of Foundrae and keeps gifting me medallions each year for my birthday. The internal compass medallion resonates in particular as I learn to balance myself a little better during moments of change.”

Creating a welcoming, lived-in environment is a key part of welcoming clients to the Alexandra Grecco Soho Flagship: “Most of the furniture in our Flagship is vintage and this screen is one of my favorite pieces. The Somerset House did an incredible job creating a space for us that feels more like a home than a bridal boutique, which is exactly what I wanted. I'm now on a quest to fill my house with similar pieces and have become mildly addicted to browsing online auction sites.”
