Adanola Is the New It Girl Athleisure Brand

While there is no lack of athleisure brands, new ones always seem to be entering the competitive market. Some do influencer seeding and then fade into the ether, struggling to make a splash in a world of alos and Lululemons, while brands like Adanola pique your interest, hiding in plain sight on It girls like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Emily Ratajkowski, Olivia Culpo, and Elsa Hosk. After Kendall Jenner became the face of the brand this past January, I started noticing the British brand more and more online.

Adanola is known for minimalist activewear pieces and collegiate-style basics. Their site banners, “Everybody’s everyday uniform, whether you’re running, running errands, or just running late.” They run small production lines to avoid waste, use 100% recyclable packaging, and offer products in sizes from XXS - XXXL in the season’s trendiest colors. They check all the boxes on paper, so I wanted to see how their best sellers would hold up in the field.

It seems like the target audience for Adanola is someone interested in low impact workouts such as yoga and pilates. On their website, there is an autoplaying carousel of perfect outfit pictures from Instagram with follower counts under each person’s handle, most of them with north of 50K followers. You can shop for swim and sweatshirts or by activity on the site, and “running” is one of the subcategories. I was curious if this chic brand could handle intense sweat. I am currently training for a half marathon, so as I was ramping up my miles, I tested three top-selling Adanola items: ultimate leggings, ultimate ultra crop pocket shorts, and the ultimate cross back bra.

Ultimate Leggings

The leggings are incredibly flattering. They have a compressive fit, high rise, and no front seam. There are two pockets, one on each leg, with one of them offering a zipper; a win for keeping belongings and fuel secure on long runs. I was surprised by the lack of a waistband pocket, especially because there appears to be real estate with such a wide waistband. However, at $65, a competitive price when other brands’ offerings are over $100, I believe these are a great option for standard leggings.

I was most excited to try the shorts that Kendall Jenner wears in burgundy in her campaign. As I do most of my running during the warmer months, I am always looking for new additions to my rotation. Unfortunately these will not be making the cut. Let us just say, I did not look like Kendall in these shorts. Granted, “crop” is in the product’s name, so I should have known better, but as I ran, these shorts scrunched to a length I have not worn since high school track. Read: tiny. I had planned to finish my run at the grocery store so I could pick up ingredients for dinner, and I felt naked walking around the aisles. I wanted to like these for running, but I will be saving them exclusively for yoga and pilates. I have learned that 5” length shorts are my preference.

Ultimate Cross Back Bra

Lastly, the cross back bra. This medium support bra is designed with a thick, tight under band, and cross straps that are flattering without compromising fit. It comes with removable pads which I always discard as a personal preference. I appreciate that this bra has decent coverage across the chest, helping to mitigate bounce. Sometimes bras can be so narrow, but this bra was wide enough it almost qualifies as a bra crop top. I have been using this bra for miles and cross-training days with no complaints.

Overall, Adanola is a newer athleisure brand in the U.S. market, offering minimalist basics across activities and at an accessible price point. While some of their products might not be my favorite for high-intensity, sweat-heavy activities, for those seeking stylish pieces for lower-impact workouts and everyday wear, Adanola is worth exploring.
