Want To Know What Foods Are Making You Feel Sluggish? This Device Has The Answers

Join Nutrisense

In classic fashion, I found myself interested in improving the ways I’m fueling my body at the start of this new year. While an avid fitness-tracker, I’ve intentionally focused on intuitive eating over calorie counting for the past few years. But, my interest was piqued when I read about Nutrisense. Instead of tracking your input, the continuous glucose monitor tracks your body’s reactions: how your glucose spikes, falls or remains stable after meals, drinks, and snacks. I’m absolutely jazzed on the program…here’s why.

It’s Designed For Many Types Of Users

If a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) sounds familiar, that’s because the device is normally used by diabetics in their monitoring. Nowadays, it’s popped up in fitness and lifestyle circles, too. Whether your intention is to experiment with your optimal health and fitness routine or to lose weight with long-term healthy choices rather than yo-yo dieting, Nutrisense’s program can be beneficial to you. Plus, your program may also be eligible for FSA/HSA plans.

It’s Simple To Set Up And Follow

The CGM is easy to set up – set up the applicator on the back of your arm and push it in with a little *pop* noise (I promise, it doesn’t hurt). From there, pair it with the Nutrisense app by tapping your phone on the back of your arm. Then, your data will start pouring in. The device can hold eight hours of data, so you’re encouraged to scan at least every eight hours, if not more often (I recommend turning on the app’s notifications). The consistency of this scanning is incredibly motivating in making healthy choices. It’s easier to opt for one meal instead of another when you have a physical view of what makes your body feel good.

It Comes With The Help Of An Expert Dietitian

While understanding the initial data can be intuitive, touching base with Nutrisense’s expert dietitian was a huge unlock for me. I benefited from the dietitian checking in with me about foods that caused the worst spikes, foods that were best for me during my program, and some nutrition advice based on my consumption patterns. During my second week, the dietitian told me to reduce my portion size, eat less carbohydrates and more protein, and to focus on whole foods and ingredients rather than anything processed. That’s when things really changed for me.

It’s Incredibly Eye-Opening

As I hinted at before, having a graphic depiction of what my days looked like nutritionally has changed my eating habits tremendously. For anyone that struggles with knowing "what" to eat or has been yo-yo dieting for a long time, this data can be empowering. It eliminates food rules created by one-size-fits-all diet culture and allows you to identify which food and behaviors work best for your individual goals and preferences.

I Feel So Much Better

The Nutrisense program really excels in providing clarity and inspiring action. It’s helped me choose better-tailored options when I eat out (brown rice over white rice if I’m ordering sushi, for instance), and more than anything, motivated me to cook for myself more often. (Surprise, surprise – my body likes home-cooked meals more than takeout.) These tailored, personalized insights have affected me way more than any advice ever could have. And, unlike shelling out for a diet program, fitness coach, or swanky gym membership, Nutrisense doesn’t demand that you change anything that you’re doing — but it gives you the insights that make you want to do it for yourself, for good, over time.

Try it for yourself.
