I Tried The Flex Disc -- And It Replaced All My Other Period Products

Try Flex

Nothing is more daunting than perusing the ever-changing menstrual product aisle. As any older-sibling figure who menstruates will tell you: what works for one person may not work for you! With so many variables and so much potential for pain and discomfort, it's no wonder so many people dread their time of the month -- but Flex is rewriting that narrative. After trying the Flex Disc, I'm never going back.

1. Longer Wear Time

Unlike pads or tampons -- which have a max wear time of 8 hours -- the Flex Disc can be worn for 12 hours. These discs have been tested and deemed safe for a longer use due to the fact that they "collect" fluids, rather than "absorbing" like tampons. You're already winning with not having to carry around tampon or pad replacements, but only having to remove your cup twice in a 24 hour period? You can't beat that.

2. Safer For Your Body

While searching for my perfect period product, I've often struggled with yeast infections and vaginal imbalances. Flex aims to avoid that by making their discs with 100% medical-grade polymer. They're also hypoallergenic, and made without latex, BPA, or phthalates. All of these work together to help keep your vaginal pH balanced and avoid any form of infection. (Your body will thank you!)

3. Less Cramping

For those that struggle with intense period pain, this may sound too good to be true. Flex discs are designed with, well, flexibility in mind. The silicone ring and medical grade polymer are pliable and move with your body's natural contractions. As opposed to other period products that don't have much give, these discs are flexible, minimizing cramps and maximizing comfort.

4. Less Waste

Because you won't need to replace your disc as often as you would a tampon, you're already lessening you carbon footprint. Using the Flex disc reduces your global footprint by 60% just by not using disposable pads or tampons. All Flex products are also made in North America, which minimizes transportation pollution, too.

5. Mess-Free Sex

We had to save the best for last. One of the most glorious parts of the Flex disc is that you can have period sex without all the mess. Unlike tampons or cups which sit in your vaginal canal, the Flex Disc sits right at your cervix, making it possible to have mess-free sex or self-love sessions without having to remove it first. It may take some trial and error to get it right, but there's nothing a little pause for adjustment can't fix.

Say hello to a more sustainable, comfortable, and stress-free period.
