Few things bring me joy like fresh flowers, so I’m no stranger to sending myself a bouquet here and there. I’ve even earned the title of “flower friend” among my circle. After years of testing every delivery service out there, I figured it was time to put my floral expertise to good use. In this throwdown, I pitted three of the most popular flower delivery brands – Bouqs, UrbanStems, and 1‑800‑Flowers – against each other to see who really delivers on freshness, quality, and overall value. The Flowers Last Way Longer

Bouqs took the win here, no question. A full week after delivery, my Picnic arrangement still looked bright, full, and ready for its close-up. UrbanStems held on for just under a week before stems started to droop, while 1‑800‑Flowers struggled to stay fresh beyond a couple days (some blooms didn’t even open before they wilted). If you want flowers with staying power, go with Bouqs.

They Look Just Like the Photos

Bouqs delivered exactly what I ordered – no substitutions or filler. The bouquet was lush and looked just like the online image. UrbanStems was close, though it needed a bit of fluffing to match expectations. 1‑800‑Flowers looked the most off-brand: less volume and vibrancy, which was a bummer.

Sustainably Sourced and Transparently Grown

Bouqs also stands out for its commitment to ethical sourcing and sustainability. Their flowers are grown responsibly, and they work directly with eco-conscious farms. The site even highlights stories from their growers, which gives the whole experience a more thoughtful, intentional feel. Meanwhile UrbanStems and 1-800-Flowers vaguely mention things like “sustainably sourced” and “quality,” but it doesn’t seem to be a huge priority for either business.

No Guesswork When Ordering

One of the biggest frustrations with other services? Vague sizing. Bouqs makes it easy to know what you’re getting: each bouquet tier comes with a clear stem count, and pricing is transparent. UrbanStems offers nice arrangements but doesn’t list stem numbers, leaving you guessing. 1‑800‑Flowers was the most confusing of all, with unclear size labels like “Single” and “Double” and no stem details in sight.

An A+ Online Shopping Experience

From browsing to checkout, Bouqs made the whole experience feel curated and easy. Their site is clean, modern, and intuitive. UrbanStems looks good, but finding specific flowers (like sunflowers) required extra filtering. And 1‑800‑Flowers? It felt like stepping into a coupon-littered maze. Bouqs kept it simple and, in turn, enjoyable. It’s a brand that just gets it.
