Founder Lili Aghaei started The Vintage Marché back in 2023 as a passion project, sourcing a collection of nine rare designer shoes while pregnant with her daughter. Three years later, her collection of vintage gems has grown into all areas of fashion, including one-of-a-kind accessories like gorgeous YSL earrings, pristine-condition Chanel and Prada handbags, iconic pieces from covetable collections like Tom Ford’s Gucci era – and she’s even caught the attention of some of our favorite fashion icons.

Everyone from Hailey Bieber to Kendall Jenner has been spotted wearing pieces from Aghaei’s archive, and she’s now turned into one of the most trusted resources for one-of-a-kind treasures that are sure to be conversation starters.

“Seeing pieces I personally sourced being worn by women like Hailey Bieber is still incredibly surreal, but lately it’s been the smaller, unexpected moments that have made the growth feel even more real. People are starting to recognize our pieces when they’re photographed on celebrities before we’ve even posted about them,” Aghaei tells TQE.

Below, Aghaei walks me through her journey with The Vintage Marché, her biggest celebrity style moments, and the best tips for taking care of your vintage finds.

The Vintage Marché’s Origin Story

TQE: Tell us the story of how The Vintage Marché came to be.

LA: The Vintage Marché really started after a trip to Paris with my husband the summer of 2022. I’ve always loved vintage shopping and finding special treasures. As a young girl, my mom and grandmother used to take me along to antique shops and estate sales with them all over LA.

Basically, after that trip to Paris, David (my husband) jokingly told me I either needed to stop shopping or figure out how to turn my addiction into a business. Obviously, I wasn’t going to stop shopping! So that September, I created the name, started the Instagram, and hired a graphic designer for a very entry-level logo for the brand. That same month, I got pregnant, and everything was on pause. I promised myself that come the new year, I was going to actively start the Instagram, and come January 2023, I launched The Vintage Marché with just nine pairs of vintage shoes. From there, it grew really organically into handbags, shoes, and accessories.

TQE: What does the name The Vintage Marché mean?

LA: “Marché” means market in French, and I loved the idea of creating a vintage market that felt incredibly curated. Almost like traveling somewhere and discovering the most amazing pieces all in one place. I’ve always wanted The Vintage Marché to feel like you’re shopping my personal edit rather than scrolling through an endless vintage marketplace.

TQE: Tell us a little about your career journey — were you always in the fashion industry?

LA: Not at all! I actually had a completely different career before starting The Vintage Marché. I was a pediatric occupational therapist. When I launched the business, I was also pregnant with my now 3-year-old, so it was a huge period of change in my life. I was building something completely from scratch while becoming a mom for the first time. I didn’t come from a traditional fashion background at all. I really just followed my love of vintage, my eye for finding special treasures, and my instinct for what I thought other women would love too.

TQE: How would you describe The Vintage Marché customer?

LA: She loves fashion, but she doesn’t necessarily want what everyone else has. She appreciates the story and rarity behind a piece and loves mixing vintage with what’s in her closet now. I always think of our client as someone who wants to walk into a room carrying something that makes people ask, “Where did you find that?”

Aghaei’s on Her Biggest Celebrity Moments

TQE: What was your biggest “pinch-me” moment since starting The Vintage Marché?

LA: There have been so many. Seeing pieces I personally sourced being worn by women like Hailey Bieber is still incredibly surreal, but lately it’s been the smaller, unexpected moments that have made the growth feel even more real. People are starting to recognize our pieces when they’re photographed on celebrities before we’ve even posted about them.

Recently, people have even started recognizing me in public! I’ll be out in LA with my toddler or taking a workout class, and someone will come up to me and say, “I know you from somewhere!” On a recent trip to Carmel, a sales associate at Bottega Veneta asked if I was “the vintage girl.” I think my husband was very shocked by that one. To think this all started with nine pairs of shoes and now people recognize the pieces, the brand, and sometimes even me is completely surreal.

TQE: We’ve seen fashion icons like Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner spotted in vintage pieces you’ve sourced. Tell us about having them come to fruition?

LA: It’s one of the most exciting parts of what I do because the pieces are so specific. I can spend hours searching for one incredible vintage bag, so seeing it have a completely new life years or decades after it was originally made is really special. When someone with such an iconic sense of style chooses one of those pieces, it reinforces exactly why I love vintage… the best pieces really are timeless.

TQE: Is there anyone on your dream list who you’d love to see your finds on?

LA: Rihanna would be a dream. She has such an incredible way of wearing fashion… she can take an archival or unexpected piece and make it completely her own. Seeing her in one of our rare vintage treasures would definitely be a pinch-me moment.

Trends and Tips for Vintage Finds

TQE: What are some of the biggest fashion trends you think are going to be big this Fall/Winter?

LA: I think we’re going to see a lot of romance and drama… big organza tops and dresses, exaggerated silhouettes, rich textures, and beautiful evening pieces. I’m also loving deeper burgundy and chocolate tones, suede, satin, and exotic leathers. And of course, archival fashion continues to feel incredibly relevant.

TQE: What are some of your best tips for taking care of your vintage finds?

LA: Storage is everything. I always recommend keeping handbags stuffed so they maintain their shape, storing them away from direct sunlight and humidity, and being especially careful with delicate materials like satin, suede, and exotic skins. And don’t over-clean vintage—sometimes the best thing you can do is handle a beautiful piece carefully and let it age naturally.

TQE: What’s one fashion staple that will never go out of style for you?

LA: A beautiful vintage handbag. It can completely change a simple outfit, and the right one only gets better with time. I especially love pieces that don’t immediately scream a particular season or trend. They’re the ones you’ll still want to wear ten or twenty years from now.

The Future of The Vintage Marché

TQE: You recently had a pop-up at Westfield’s ReLoved Market in LA — are you hoping to do more IRL events?

LA: Absolutely! We popped up at Westfield Century City on September 5 & 6 for their ReLoved Market, which is especially exciting because Westfield reached out to us about being part of it. One of the most rewarding parts of our growth has been seeing more brands and partners come to us about bringing The Vintage Marché to their communities.

We have so many incredible partnerships and events coming up for the remainder of 2026, including pop-ups and trunk shows in Palo Alto, Washington, D.C., New York, Chicago, and hopefully Nashville as well. I love getting to bring The Vintage Marché to different cities and meet our customers in person.

TQE: What’s next for The Vintage Marché?

LA: I want to continue growing The Vintage Marché while staying really true to what made people fall in love with us in the first place… the curation and the feeling of discovering something you can’t find anywhere else. We have so many exciting partnerships, events, and new ideas in the works, and I’m really focused on continuing to build The Vintage Marché into a world of its own. It’s crazy to think we started with just nine pairs of shoes, and I genuinely feel like we’re only getting started.
