There was a time when sweatshirts were exclusively reserved for at-home or post-workout wear. Those days are long gone – and you won’t catch me complaining about it. Under a blazer or paired with sweatpants, sweatshirts are the best.

Sweatshirts have become as much of a high-fashion staple as they are a cozy, cuddly wardrobe essential. From cropped silhouettes to oversized fits, neutral essentials to colorful wares, a perfect sweatshirt for everyone, every occasion, and every budget now exists. To save you time in finding yours, read on for the best the internet has to offer.

Your go-tos for silhouettes, fabrics, and colorways that stand the test of time.

The Rec Zip Hoodie in Mink Grey, $70

Pact

The brand on a mission to become “earth’s favorite clothing” is making supersoft wardrobe staples that are as gentle on the environment as they are on your skin. It starts with GOTS Certified Organic Cotton, a mainstay in all of Pact’s pieces.  This fiber is free of toxic chemicals and needs 81% less water than its non-organic counterpart. All of the clothing is made in Fair Trade Certified factories that are safer for factory workers and positively impact surrounding communities.

If that’s not enough to love, Pact’s garments come highly rated and are competitively priced. Prices start at $70, with athletic zip-up hoodies to casual oversized crewnecks.

For something cozy, go for the Recycled Fleece Hoodie ($82). It has an oversized fit, big kangaroo pockets, and a supersoft fleece fabric – perfect for cuddling up in on cold mornings. The fabric is lightweight, stretchy, drapey, and wicks moisture – perfect for throwing on post-workout or for lounging in on summer days.

365 Hoodie in Pistachio, $150
Credit: Panagia

Pangaia

As mentioned before, I’m a bit loungewear-obsessed. What’s currently on the top of my sweatshirt wishlist? Pangaia. I’m equal parts enticed by the striking colorways and the rave reviews from my friends who are devoted customers. Pangaia is focused on innovating in every sense of the word: using botanical dyes derived from nature, creating a plant-based, resource-efficient down alternative, and focusing on sustainable materials like recycled cotton.

You probably recognize the 365 Hoodie ($150) from Instagram or walking down the street. Made from a cozy organic cotton with a medium-weight, this staple sweatshirt is made to be worn all day, every day (hence the name). I love that Pangaia sweatshirts make a stylish statement, without sacrificing on sustainability. If you want to hop onto the loungewear train and know you look good doing it, you can’t go wrong starting here.

So Sorry No Wifi Universal Hoodie in Optic, $165
Credit: Madhappy

Madhappy

Another brand at the top of my list is Madhappy. Not only does the brand make top-notch loungewear, but it was actually launched as a means to create conversation around mental health. Madhappy is doing just that with fun, printed pieces that advocate for mental health awareness – as well as providing free mental health resources and partnering with The Jed Foundation

Madhappy pieces are most definitely conversation-starters, with bright colors and bold slogans such as “So Sorry! No Wifi” printed on them. With a slew of celebrity fans including Cardi B, Gigi Hadid, and Steph Curry, Madhappy has received plenty of good press over the years. Not only are the pieces style standouts, but they’re oh-so-cozy. While pricey ($145-$195) these are the type of sweatshirts that just get better with time.
