How To Shop TikTok’s Biggest Fall Trends on The RealReal

Trend 1: True Blue 

After a summer dominated by bright pops of cherry red, fall’s biggest color trend is going to come on the opposite side of the color wheel: per expert TikTok trend forecaster Cristina Liss, blue is going to be everywhere this fall. Cristina says that the key to this trend is finding a “light but saturated” blue. Missoni is one of my go-to brands to search on The RealReal (their clothes are reasonably priced for resale and they reliably have off-season pieces on super sale), and I love the on-trend blue tones and signature zig-zag print of this Missoni Patterned Scarf ($59). If you’re a belt-wearer, my pick is this beautiful blue Ferragamo Skinny Leather Belt ($156). PRO TIP: The RealReal’s search function can be glitchy and leave out a ton of products, so don’t just put “blue” in the search bar and call it a day. Instead, go directly to one of your favorite designer’s pages and filter for color from there. Trust me, it’s worth the extra leg work.

Trend 2: Animal Print Everything

Cristina and Ellie Sue Barrows, another great TikTok trend forecaster, both predicted that animal prints are going to be the biggest trend of the fall. In her viral fall fashion trend video, Ellie Sue recommended focusing on unexpected prints like cowhide and zebra. Aquazzura has a ton of amazing animal print footwear on The RealReal. PRO TIP: The RealReal now has Animal Print as a color option in filters! Animal prints used to fall under the vague “Patterned” category, so this is a huge step up for ultra-specific shoppers.

Trend 3: The Crocodile Comeback

Professional stylist Casey G predicts a third animal print making a comeback this fall: crocodile. One of the biggest reasons I like shopping secondhand is that it’s a more sustainable way to invest in leather products. This becomes especially important when shopping trends potentially involving exotic materials like crocodile. I love every detail of this newly-listed A.P.C. Leather Shoulder Bag ($250). These Manolo Blahnik Crocodile Pumps ($83) are a perfect fall peep-toe heel. If you want a funkier colorway, the Luar Embossed Leather Top Handle Bag ($96) is my pick. And these Ralph Lauren Crocodile T-Strap Pumps ($81) are a great example of why I’m not afraid of shopping items in “Fair” condition on The RealReal: a quick trip to the cobbler and these on-trend t-straps would be good as new. 

PRO TIP: Even secondhand shopping can become a part of the vicious cycle of trend-chasing fast fashion if not done mindfully. I’m especially careful to source any secondhand leather products from high quality brands. 

Trend 4: High-Glamor Gloves

OG TikTok trend forecaster Mandy Lee famously coined the “indie sleaze revival” and called the trend way before anyone else. Her prediction for F/W 26 is that gloves are going to be everywhere. That’s great news for us: gloves are a particularly under-shopped category on The RealReal, so there are a ton of deals to be found, even for extremely trending brands. Trend forecaster Laura Schulte saw structured hats everywhere on the runway during the A/W 26 shows at Paris Fashion Week (if you need any convincing to follow Laura’s advice, in that same video she called the bermuda shorts trend that has been everywhere this summer). The TOTEME Lamb Shearling Hat ($221) could take you from chilly autumn nights straight through the winter months. The bronzey blush color of this Schiaparelli Pillbox Hat ($270) would pair really well with the earth tones that you probably already have in your fall wardrobe. The oversize button on this Burberry London Velvet Pillbox Hat ($44) is very in line with the proportion play trend embraced by designers like Jonathan Anderson. Speaking of, this J.W. Anderson Green Hat ($60) looks like it could be worn as a structured take on the bucket hat or with the brim up in a nod to the nautical trend that forecasters have been predicting for a while now.

PRO TIP: Hats can be surprisingly delicate, so this is one area where I really focus on item condition.
