In partnership with Ritual.
Ritual has long been a trailblazer in the DTC space, bringing a technological approach to health and wellness. It is not only the first DTC brand I ever tried, but the brand I credit with reminding me to take my vitamins in the first place. With clean ingredients and a website that is both comprehensive and even pleasurable to peruse, Ritual makes me feel empowered and informed in my decision-making process.
Essentially, Ritual makes it easy to navigate the expansive, sometimes shady world of vitamins and supplements. Gut health is incredibly central to my life, but I often find it not worth the headache of sifting through terms, conflicting opinions, and unclear ingredient lists. At one point I thought I had a handle on what probiotics were, but once I heard that there were prebiotics too? I officially checked out. That’s why I was so psyched to hear of Ritual’s latest product, Synbiotic+.
Jack Of All Trades
The Synbiotic+($50) is a gut health polymath. Each capsule contains prebiotics, probiotics, and a postbiotic, all rolled into one. Which begs the question: what the f*ck does that mean?
The key ingredients are included to help with gut support, digestive support, and immune support. Prebiotics are designed to target unwanted bacteria that grows in the gut, to support the growth and activity of more of the good stuff. The probiotics included in the formula are two of the most studied strains in the world: LGG and BB-12. Together, they provide live microorganisms to help relieve mild and occasional discomforts like bloating, gas, and diarrhea. The postbiotic helps aid the production of Butyrate, which is the major energy source for the cells that line the colon (to help support gut barrier function).*
It’s also important to remember how much of our body’s internal systems are located in the gut––namely, 70% of the immune system. Maintaining gut health is vital in general, but its role in supporting our immune health is extremely important to me.
Fresh AF And Easy To Remember
The capsule is meant to be taken once daily, which is far more enjoyable than the multiple large pills of routines past. The Minty Tab was one of my unexpectedly favorite parts about using the Multivitamin ($30), and I was delighted to see that it found its way into the Synbiotic+ bottle. That pop of freshness in the morning is quite refreshing, and honestly makes it easier to remember to take. I’ve developed a pavlovian association with it: every time I brush my teeth, I reach for my Synbiotic+. As a chronic pill forgetter (I have to tape my birth control pill pack onto my phone), it is no small feat for me to form a habit that actually sticks. Making a casual habit out of daily health is something that is foundational to Ritual’s ethos, and even small details like the Minty Tab have proven the brand's efficacy in facilitating that.
Clear-Cut And Made Traceable™
Ritual’s transparency is one of its defining features, and the thing that keeps users and editors alike returning time and time again. The brand’s visible supply chain makes it possible to trace––down to the town or city in some cases––both the supplier of each labeled ingredient and location of the final place of manufacturing. I am always blown away by the wealth of information on Ritual’s website, and the time the team took to make it fun and simple to look at.
Even if you are someone who’s willing to comb tirelessly through ingredient lists and read the fine print about suppliers, more often than not, that information is not readily available. Ritual puts it all out on the table, in a format that is pleasurable and user-friendly. Whether you’d like a chemistry lecture or need to be explained things like you’re five, Ritual’s got you covered. And taking your health into your own hands has never been this easy (or minty!).
5 More Reasons To Love Ritual:
- Formulated cleanly: The Synbiotic+ is vegan friendly, and formulated without GMOs, major allergens, animal products, and artificial colors.
- No refrigeration needed: the bottle uses moisture-control technology designed to help protect the probiotic strains, so there’s no need to worry if you accidentally leave it out on the counter.
- Delayed-release capsule: this design helps the capsule make it all the way to the colon instead of breaking down in the stomach––an ideal environment for probiotics to thrive in.*
- Light reading: The Journal is full of insightful, helpful, and interesting information, where you can learn more about their products and about health, nutrition, pregnancy, science, and beyond.
- Woman-founded: Katerina Schneider founded Ritual out of frustration, when she couldn’t find any straightforward vitamins that met her standards during pregnancy.
