In partnership with Dreamland.
I have distinct memories of the unswaddling process with both of my kids…and they aren’t fond ones. It seems that just when babies start to get the hang of sleeping for longer chunks of time, they start learning to roll, you’re forced to unswaddle, and the process begins again. At least that was the case for me.
With my first, we did the “one arm out” method, which was ultimately effective but took a while. With the second, we used a transitional sleep suit, which is basically the parenting version of kicking the can down the road. I wish I had known about Dreamland’s Weighted Sleep Sack ($89) sooner – it would have been the ticket to good sleep, quickly.
Designed To Help Baby Feel Calmer, And Sleep Better
Even though it’s tough when you’re in the thick of it, getting baby to sleep well at naptime – or, the holy grail…through the night – doesn’t have to be that hard. You just need a few tricks up your sleeve. One is to make sure your baby feels safe and comforted. While easier said than done, Dreamland’s CoverCalm™ technology uses evenly distributed weight across your baby’s entire body to “naturally reduce stress and give your baby the feeling of security and comfort – just like a hug.” Dreamland does all of this without restricting movement so your baby is still able to practice their rolling skills and get into a comfortable position.
The Perfect Size For Every Baby
One of my biggest pet peeves with normal sleep sacks is the lack of sizing options. The reality is, you want the sack to be small enough to provide a nice cocoon, but large enough so that your child isn’t restricted. I love that these sleep sacks come in four different sizes to accommodate babies from 8-25+ pounds, and those up to 40 inches in length (about three years old). If you’re not sure which is best, you can use Dreamland’s handy size finder tool to figure it out before you buy.
Comfort That Grows With Your Child
While the sleep sack is easily Dreamland’s most notable product, the brand also offers options for smaller babies and older toddlers with similarly cozy Swaddles ($89) and Weighted Toddler Blankets ($99). These products are equally soft and made with the same tagless design, ensuring maximum comfort for discriminating littles.
My three year old loves the weighted blanket – she describes it as “a hug when mom isn’t here” – and I swear it helps her sleep better by increasing serotonin and melatonin while decreasing cortisol (especially great for older toddlers who are learning how to regulate emotions and calm down on their own!).
Cozy Is Great, Safety Is Critical
Every parent wants their kid to sleep well, but it’s also really tough to convince someone to try a new baby sleep solution– so many products on the market are full of chemicals or worse, not actually safe for sleep. Not only are Dreamland’s products made with natural and toxic-free materials, but they’ve passed all the certifications so you can feel good about putting your baby to sleep and leaving the room (sounds ridiculous, but a huge source of anxiety for parents!). The brand exceeds all United States Consumer Product Safety Commission standards, is considered a “hip-healthy” product by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute, and was designed in partnership with pediatricians and NICU nurses.
It’s safe to say I’m a huge Dreamland fan and am so excited for my kids to use their products for years to come (would be remiss if I didn’t use this opportunity to ask for adult size too, pretty please). Check out Dreamland’s full lineup here.
