The One Daily Habit We Recommend? Taking This Clean, High-Quality Multivitamin

TQE is in partnership with Ritual but our editorial team is independent and only endorses products we believe in.

The world of vitamins can be a tricky one to navigate. There are so many options, and while I am a huge fan of specific vitamins for specific needs, I don’t believe in pulling just any option off a drugstore shelf and calling it a day. Finding a quality multivitamin – one with important key nutrients and one without all the extra stuff (I’m looking at you, sugar) – has historically required hours of research and more typically, cobbling together a bunch of individual vitamins to basically create your own multi. Who has time for that?

Thankfully, I have a few awesome friends who recommended Ritual a few years ago. From the brand’s signature Essential for Women 18+ to the Prenatal multivitamin that I took through two pregnancies, Ritual has totally changed my vitamin game.

The Multivitamin, Reinvented

Let’s take a quick look at Ritual’s roots. The company was founded “with the belief that better health begins with better ingredients.” Founder and CEO Katerina Schneider couldn’t find a clean, trustworthy vitamin brand, so she set out to make her own (file under: #goals). She worked with a team of industry-leading scientists to completely reinvent the multivitamin, eventually creating something without any sugary ingredients or artificial colorants. Bonus points for being USP verified (most vitamins are not USP verified). This is what initially intrigued me, as I sought a vitamin I could feel good about putting in my body every single day.

2 Pills a Day, Formulated to Help Fill Nutrient Gaps

Even the healthiest eaters in the world may sometimes struggle to get enough of all the nutrients they need on a daily basis – some nutrients are tough to get from food alone. So, while I aspire to eat as balanced as possible (brief pause to shout out my favorite soft serve and french fries), I know I should still take a quality multivitamin. But, I’m also not super interested in taking anything unnecessary, which leads me to another reason why I love Ritual: the Essential for Women 18+ only contains 9 key nutrients. Leaning into a “less is more” approach, the brand believes a multivitamin should only help fill gaps in the diet, and uses scientifically-backed research to determine what to include…or not. So what’s in it? Omega-3 DHA and B-12 to support brain health, Vitamin D, Magnesium, Boron and K2 to maintain bone health, chelated Iron and methylated Folate for red blood cell formation, and Vitamin E to provide antioxidant support.*

Obsessively Transparent

Ok, this is what really got me. On Ritual’s website, you can easily find information on every single labeled ingredient, including what it does, its final place of manufacturing (down to the city!), who supplied it, its form in the pill, and a whole host of resources about why that nutrient is important. Here’s an example. Ummmm, what?! This is so cool…I’m not even remotely science-literate but am simply blown away by the transparency and impressed by how easy this is to understand. I’m also now regretting the many years I spent taking gummy vitamins with 50+ ingredients.

These delayed-release capsules are designed to dissolve later in the small intestine, an ideal place to absorb nutrients.*

Consistency is Key

Finding and fact-checking a great multivitamin is step one, and we’ve done that. Step two is making sure you actually take it. We’re all busy, and honestly it’s hard to add another thing to the seemingly ever-complicated daily schedule. What I love about Ritual is the easy and simple subscription model that takes all the work off your plate. For $33 per month, the vitamins are delivered to your door a few days before you’re set to run out of the current bottle – meaning you’ll never miss a day, and you don’t have to deal with restocking. If you’re traveling or for whatever reason don’t need more in a particular month, you can just skip that delivery or set a different date. It’s just easy.

The multivitamin that I took through two pregnancies!

 A Pregnancy Powerhouse

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention how amazing the Prenatal and Postnatal multivitamins are for those who are expecting or recently welcomed a little one into the family. The Prenatal is, in my opinion, a total superstar. This one has 12 ingredients to support nutrient needs all packed into two pills a day.* You heard me – two pills!

Anyone who’s ever taken a prenatal multi will understand just how incredible this is; some require upwards of five pills a day…not fun at all, especially in the first trimester when most moms-to-be aren’t feeling their best. I especially loved the delayed-release capsule feature which is designed to be gentle on an empty stomach, and the minty taste. They’re also eligible for FSA/HSA reimbursement, so you can save big time over the course of the prenatal and postnatal period.

With a science-driven approach, transparently sourced ingredients, and thoughtful design, Ritual has something for everyone.
